Mandal has its own functional premises in Dombivli, but it caters to students living in other northern suburbs of Mumbai-Thane region through a 6000-book-strong library that has been serving professional students of engineering, management and other streams since 1991. The functioning of library as well as study center is managed and overseen by team of student-karyakartas (volunteers) who get han
ds on training in management.
मंडळाची वास्तू डोंबिवलीत असली, तरीही मुंबई-ठाणे उपनगरातल्या ईंजिनिअरिंग व मनेजमेंट शाखेच्या विद्यार्थ्यांसाठी, सुमारे ६,००० पुस्तकांनिशी सज्ज असलेल्या ग्रंथालयाद्वारे आपण १९९१ पासून सेवा देत आलो आहोत. एका वेळी ८० जण बसून अभ्यास करू शकतील अशा एका अभ्यासिकेची सोयही आपण विद्यार्थीवर्गाला २०१० पासून करून दिली आहे. ग्रंथालय आणि अभ्यासिका या दोन्हीचे व्यवस्थापन आणि देखरेख, ही विद्यार्थी-कार्यकर्त्यांच्या चमुच्याच हातात असल्याने, त्यांना यातल्या व्यवस्थापनाचा अनुभव सुरुवातीपासून प्राप्त होत आलेला आहे. As an earnest effort to abide by the principle of service, we embarked upon a rural development support initiative at Village Vihigaon, Taluk Shahapur, Maharashtra in 1995. We successfully managed to bring in some social change in the lives of inhabitants of this village by engaging them in the areas of education, agriculture development, thrift, women issues, health and hygiene. Through our annual outreach programs to tribal villages such as Runamochan Bhet (Thanksgiving Visit) and Diwali Faral Snehabhoj (Diwali Feast), we have been extensively building bridges between city dwellers and villagers. However, the most important achievement through these initiatives is that we have been able to sensitize city-based students to the issues and problems of the tribal societies.
सेवेचे तत्वज्ञान प्रत्यक्षात आणण्यासाठीचा एक प्रामाणिक प्रयत्न म्हणून १९९५ सालापासून ग्रामीण विकासाला चालना देण्यासाठी, मंडळाने शहापूर तालुक्यातील विहीगाव या गावी कार्याला सुरुवात केली. या गावात शिक्षण, आरोग्य, शेती विकास, महिला कल्याण आणि बचतगट या माध्यामांद्वारे काही अंशी सामाजिक बदल होण्यास मंडळ निश्चितच कारणीभूत ठरले आहे. तसेच, आपल्या वार्षिक संपर्क कार्याक्रमांद्वारे -- जसे ऋणमोचन भेट व दिवाळी फराळ स्नेहभोज -- मंडळ वनवासी विभाग आणि शहरवासी यांच्या मधील दुवा ठरले आहे. परंतु, या कार्याची मोठी उपलब्धी ही आहे कि विद्यार्थ्यांना आपल्या समाजातील एका दुर्लक्षित घटक अशा वनवासी समजाबद्दलचे प्रश्न, समस्या आपल्याला लक्षात आणून देता आल्या. We ensure overall personality development -- individual, professional, social and spiritual personality -- of students by exposing them to real life problems solving, guiding them in studies, in career moves, in entrepreneurial endeavors, initiating them in to great Indian art, culture and philosophy. Elder karyakartas, who had received such a training through the founder members, are friend, philosopher and guides to many young students who are trying to further the cause and work of Vivekanand Seva Mandal
व्यक्तिमत्वाचा वैयक्तिक, व्यावसायिक, सामाजिक व आध्यात्मिक अंगांनी विकास साधण्यासाठी व विद्यार्थ्यांचे प्रश्न सोडवण्यासाठी मंडळ विद्यार्थ्यांना प्रेरित करते; त्यांच्या अभ्यासात, करिअरमध्ये व उद्योजकते विषयी निर्णयांमध्ये मार्गदर्शन करते, तसेच भारतीय कला, विचारधन व संस्कृती यांचा परिचय घडवून आणते. जे अनुभवी कार्यकर्ते मंडळाच्या संस्थापकांच्या मार्गदर्शनाखाली तयार झाले तेच आज युवा कार्यकर्त्यांचे मित्र-तत्वज्ञ-मार्गदर्शक बनून विवेकानंद सेवा मंडळाचे कार्य व विचार पुढे नेण्यासाठी एकमेकांच्या सहकार्याने प्रयत्नरत आहेत.
