The Untold Story of National Youth Corps (NYC) Youth
There is a story hidden behind every smiling face of an NYC employee—a story of sacrifice, struggle, patience, and unfulfilled dreams.
Years ago, thousands of educated and meritorious young men and women joined the National Youth Corps (NYC) with hope in their hearts. They believed that by serving the government and society, their dedication and hard work would one day be recognized. They entered different government departments with dreams of building a secure future for themselves and their families.
But destiny had different plans.
For years and years, these youth have been working tirelessly in various government offices, performing duties with honesty and sincerity. They have served in difficult circumstances, carried responsibilities equal to regular employees, and contributed to the smooth functioning of departments. Yet, despite their services, they continue to live in uncertainty.
Many of these NYC Employees are now fathers and mothers. Some have ageing parents dependent on them, while others are raising children and struggling to provide them with basic necessities. Many could not build homes, many postponed their marriages, and many sacrificed their personal dreams because of their meagre earnings and uncertain future.
The most painful part of their story is that these are not unqualified or undeserving people. They are meritorious, educated, and capable youth who chose the path of service. They have spent the most precious years of their lives working for the government, hoping that one day justice would prevail.
As time passed, their youth faded, but their hopes remained alive.
Every morning, they leave their homes carrying the burden of financial hardships and emotional stress. Every evening, they return to their families with the same unanswered question:
"Will our years of service ever be recognized?"
Their children ask for better education, their parents need medical care, and their families look towards them for support. Yet many NYC employees struggle even to meet daily expenses.
Despite all this pain, they never abandoned their duties. They never stopped serving. They remained loyal, disciplined, and patient.
The story of NYC youth is not merely a story of employment; it is a story of 16 to 20 years of sacrifice, patience, and silent suffering. It is the story of thousands of families living between hope and uncertainty.
Today, the NYC fraternity is not asking for charity or sympathy. They are asking for justice, dignity, and recognition of their long and sincere services. They seek an opportunity to live a life of respect, to secure the future of their children, and to fulfil the dreams that they sacrificed for the service of society.
The struggle of NYC youth teaches us one thing:
Patience has a limit, but hope never dies.
