*RBSK Team Conducts Health Screening Camp at GHSS Bhalra, Bhaderwah*

Bhaderwah, May 13:-

Under the able guidance of BMO Bhaderwah Dr Versha Sharma, RBSK Team-B, along with the Dental Technician, Eye Technician and Counsellor, visited Govt Higher Secondary School Bhalra for the screening of enrolled students under the RBSK programme.

During the visit, the team screened the students for the 4Ds under RBSK, and detailed medical examinations were conducted including eye and dental check-ups.

In the camp, a total of 14 students were referred to Sub District Hospital Bhaderwah for further evaluation and management, while several cases were managed on the spot during the screening session.

Awareness Programme on Drug Abuse Organized at Lotus Model Academy Thathri Under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan

THATHRI, May 13, 2026:-

Under the guidance of CMO Doda Dr Tanveer Ahmed Rather and supervision of BMO Thathri Dr. Shakeel Ahmed Kichloo, an awareness programme under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was organized on 13 May 2026 at Lotus Model Academy Thathri with the objective of spreading awareness regarding the harmful effects of drug abuse and motivating youth to adopt a healthy, disciplined, and drug-free lifestyle.

Around 400 students enthusiastically participated in the programme and actively attended the awareness session.

During the programme, Mr. Pinku Sharma addressed the students and highlighted the importance of staying away from drugs, to***co, alcohol, and other harmful substances. He encouraged the students to focus on education, sports, and other positive activities for building a bright future and emphasized the crucial role of youth in creating a drug-free society.

The programme also featured awareness lectures by Barket Ali, Pooja Sharma, and Sh. Sajad, who educated the students about the social, physical, and psychological consequences of substance abuse. They further encouraged the students to become ambassadors of awareness and spread the message of a healthy lifestyle within their communities.

The programme concluded successfully with a collective resolve and commitment towards building a healthier, safer, and drug-free society.

Union Joint Secretary W&CD reviews education initiatives in Doda

DODA, MAY 13: Union Joint Secretary, Ministry of Women & Child Development and Member of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, today chaired a comprehensive review meeting of the School Education Department at DC Office Complex Doda.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Doda Krishan Lal, SSP, CPO, Joint Director Education, CEO, DSWO, State Coordinator Samagra Shiksha PM Shri Schools besides other officers and staff of the Education Department.

During the meeting, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Sharma directed the Chief Education Officer Doda and heads of institutions to enhance year-wise student enrollment in PM Shri Schools. He asked for intensifying awareness campaigns among the local population regarding the facilities and benefits being provided under the PM Shri initiative.

The CEO highlighted the issue of shortage of Principals and Headmasters in schools across the district.

Responding to the concern, Union Joint Secretary assured that the matter would be taken up at the appropriate level for necessary action.

The CEO informed the meeting that PM Shri Schools are functioning as exemplary institutions by sharing human resources, digital learning facilities and educational activities with nearby schools under a cluster-based approach.

Dr. Sharma directed the CEO to ensure continuous monitoring and evaluation of these clusters for improving the overall academic performance and governance.

Emphasizing the importance of cyber awareness among the students, Union Joint Secretary directed all the school heads to make cyber safety, cyber security and responsible use of social media a regular part of morning assemblies. He further stressed that every teacher should undergo cyber safety and security training to effectively guide students.

Union Joint Secretary also underscored the importance of vocational education and directed that vocational training opportunities be extended to all students to equip them with practical skills and career-oriented knowledge.

The CEO informed the meeting that several innovative initiatives have been undertaken by PM Shri Schools, including Green School initiatives, field and exposure visits, Bal Sansad programmes, drug abuse awareness campaigns and science exhibitions aimed at promoting environmental awareness, leadership qualities, healthy lifestyles, practical learning and scientific temperament among students.

Union Joint Secretary further directed the Education Department to organize regular career counselling programmes in schools to help students explore future career opportunities. He emphasized that such guidance sessions should also be conducted during study sessions for maximum outreach and effectiveness.

Highlighting the importance of child rights protection, Dr. Sharma emphasized the collective responsibility of institutions, parents, teachers and society in ensuring a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for every child. He stressed the need to create greater awareness regarding children’s rights and to ensure their access to quality education, healthcare and holistic development.

During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Doda Krishan Lal submitted proposals regarding capsule courses and specialized training programmes for heads of schools to strengthen institutional leadership and improve the overall quality of education in the district.

Reviews public grievances, developmental needs

DODA, MAY 13: The District Administration Doda today organized a Public Outreach camp (Block Diwas) at Block Headquarter Bhagwah. District Development Commissioner (DDC) Krishan Lal presided over the Camp.

A large number of public representatives, including former Sarpanchs and ex-PRI members, besides local residents, participated in the programme and projected wide range of demands and grievances before the District Development Commissioner.

Among the officers present on the occasion were PO ICDS, ACD, ACP, Executive Engineers of PDD, PHE and PWD (R&B), Tehsildar, BDO, officers from the Health Department and other district and sectoral departments.

During the interaction, the public highlighted several issues pertaining to healthcare, roads, education, drinking water supply, sanitation, tourism and public infrastructure.

The residents demanded up-gradation of the PHC building, deployment of MBBS and Dental doctors at the health centre and availability of an ambulance facility for the area.

The people also raised the issue of the poor condition of the Doda–Dessa road and demanded its immediate blacktopping.

Infrastructure up-gradation in schools, meeting shortage of teachers and lecturers in GHSS and other schools, construction of a passenger shed and toilet complex at the local Bus Stand among other demands were also projected.

The locals further urged the administration to take necessary steps to promote the area as tourism destination in view of its scenic attraction for nature lovers. They further demanded up-gradation of a nallah between Bhagwah and Lal Draman for better connectivity, regular functioning of Anganwadi Centres and timely engagement orders for seasonal vocational teachers. Concerns regarding sanitation in schools were also projected.

Issues related to the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) were also raised, with the demand for construction of a main reservoir and filter plant at Bijarni and improvement of the supply system.

The public also highlighted shortage of teachers and absence of a Headmaster at Government Girls High School Kanhal and sought expansion of the school playfield.

The residents further demanded establishment of creation of a Mandi for export and sale of fruits produced in Bhagwah and early completion of the mandi at Paryote. They further sought construction of toilet complexes and Community Sanitation Centres (CSC) under the Swachh Bharat Mission,.

Responding to the issues, the DDC directed the PWD (R&B) Department to expedite the road works. He informed the public that several works have already been tendered and allotted while some have commenced. He assured that blacktopping work on the Dessa road would be started and completed at the earliest.

The DDC directed the School Education Department to ensure proper sanitation in schools, especially provision of special toilets for girls and provision of CRC teachers wherever required.

The Power Development Department (PDD) was asked to prepare detailed reports regarding feeder-related issues in the area and submit the same for necessary action. He also instructed the department to prepare DPRs for the installation of additional electricity poles in the area and ensure proper electricity arrangements in schools and health institutions.

Regarding healthcare facilities, the DDC Doda informed the gathering that a multifunctional health van equipped with facilities such as X-ray and ultrasound has been provided and Bhagwah and Dessa areas would be included in its roster to facilitate medical testing for the people.

The DDC further directed the PWD Department to assess the condition of the PHC building and take necessary measures for its improvement. He also instructed the School Education Department to issue regular and timely orders for seasonal vocational teachers.

The DDC Doda urged the people to register their grievances on the JK Samadhan Portal for prompt and transparent redressal of issues.

The District Development Commissioner patiently listened to all grievances and assured the public that their genuine demands would be addressed in a time-bound and transparent manner.

Several on-the-spot directions were issued to concerned departments for immediate action.

On the sidelines of the programme, several departments set up awareness stalls showcasing government schemes and services for public benefit. Participating departments included Agriculture and Allied Sectors, Industries & Commerce, KVIB, Handicrafts & Handloom, SBDU under Mission YUVA, Social Welfare Department, Anganwadi (Poshan Abhiyan) and J&K Bank.

Later, a joint pledge ceremony under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was also administered by the DDC to spread awareness against drug abuse and promote a healthy society.

Census 2027: First Phase Training for Enumerators concludes at Bhaderwah

BHADERWAH, MAY 13: The three-day training programme to train enumerators and Supervisors for conducting House listing and House Census under the first phase of Census 2027 concluded today at Community Hall Bhaderwah.

The training programme was supervised by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Bhaderwah Sunil Kumar Bhutyal, Divisional Census Officer and Census Charge Officer (Rural), Kamal Preet Singh. The initiative aimed at ensuring systematic, uniform and efficient data collection during the census process.

The sessions were conducted by experienced master trainers Dr. Yunus Rasheed and Dr. Bharat Singh, who provided detailed guidance on enumeration procedures and field operations. The trainees were sensitised to the importance of accurate data collection and proper coordination during the survey process.

Key aspects covered during the training included confidentiality of census data, effective communication in the field, handling challenges in remote and difficult terrains, real-time error checking and inclusive data collection covering all sections of society.

Social Workers Forum Doda Organize 21st Multi Speciality Health Camp at Remote Village Dhara

DODA, May 13:- Continuing its mission and legacy of serving humanity, Social Workers Forum Doda (NGO) in collaboration with the Health Department Doda organized its 21st Multi Speciality Health Camp at the remote Village Dhara in District Doda.

The camp was inaugurated by the Chief Medical Officer Doda, Dr. Tanveer Ahmed Rather in the presence of Block Medical Officer Ghat Dr Abdul Gafoor and representatives of the NGO including Mr. Hafiz Ullah Khora, Mr. Aman Ullah Khan and other distinguished members of the Social Workers Forum.

During the camp, a wide range of healthcare services were provided to the people of the area including consultation by General Physicians, Consultant Gynecologist, Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dermatologist, Eye Specialist and Child Specialist. The Health Department also provided on-spot ultrasound facility through the MMU vehicle besides NCD screening, free medicines and distribution of free sanitary pads among beneficiaries.

The camp received an overwhelming response from the public as more than 700 patients availed free health check-ups and medical consultation by a dedicated team of doctors and healthcare professionals.

CMO Doda Dr. Tanveer Ahmed Rather appreciated the efforts of the Social Workers Forum and the health staff for reaching out to people living in far-flung and remote areas. He stated that such initiatives play a vital role in ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare services at the doorstep of the needy population. He further reiterated the commitment of the Health Department towards strengthening healthcare delivery in remote areas of District Doda.

Representatives of Social Workers Forum Doda expressed gratitude to the Health Department Doda including CMO Doda, GMC Doda besides doctors, paramedical staff and volunteers for their wholehearted support and cooperation in making the camp a grand success. They stated that the organization will continue its humanitarian mission and social service activities in the future as well.

On this occasion, the NGO members also recalled and paid rich tributes to the deceased members of the organization including Late Raja Anayatullah Khan, Late Romal Chand, Late Abdul Latief Rangrez, Late Choudhary Abdul Latief, Late Zaffar Ullah Butt and Late Nizam-ud-Din Butt for their selfless services and valuable contributions towards social welfare and humanitarian activities in District Doda.

The NGO also provided refreshments to all attendees of the camp. Later, the NGO felicitated all the health staff, doctors and officials with mementos and gifts in recognition of their dedication, sincere efforts and valuable contribution towards the successful conduct of the mega health camp.

Joint Inspection Drive Conducted at Bhella to Regulate Sale of Medicines

Doda, May 13:- In compliance with the directions of Deputy Commissioner Doda, Sh. Krishan Lal, a joint inspection and monitoring drive of Retail Drug Sale Establishments (medical shops) was conducted today at Bhella to ensure proper regulation and lawful sale of medicines in the area.

The joint inspection team comprised Zakir Hussain Wani, Naib Tehsildar Bhella; Dr. Sadeeq Wani, Medical Officer PHC Bhella; and Anil Kumar, Chowki Officer, Police Post Karara-Bhella. During the drive, several medical shops operating in Bhella market were inspected thoroughly.

The team examined essential documents, valid licences, maintenance of records, storage conditions of medicines and adherence to prescribed norms governing the sale of drugs and pharmaceutical products.

The shopkeepers were instructed to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the concerned authorities and ensure that medicines requiring prescriptions are not sold without proper authorization.

The officials stressed the importance of responsible drug dispensing practices and warned shopkeepers against any violation related to the illegal sale or misuse of medicines. They also reiterated that strict action would be taken against those found violating the established rules and regulations.

The inspection drive was carried out with the objective of safeguarding public health, ensuring accountability among drug sale establishments and strengthening monitoring mechanisms to prevent the misuse of pharmaceutical drugs in the area.

DC Doda, SSP Flag Off Hajj Pilgrims for Holy Pilgrimage

DODA, May 13:- Deputy Commissioner (DC) Doda, Krishan Lal, along with SSP Doda Kartik Shrotriya and other officers, today flagged off a group of Hajj pilgrims from District Doda for the holy pilgrimage to Makkah (Saudi Arabia).

A total of 16 pilgrims were flagged off from Dak Bungalow Doda amidst warm wishes and prayers from officials, relatives and members of the public.

The pilgrims departed for the Delhi Embarkation Point from where they will proceed for the sacred journey.

Among others present on the occasion were ADC Doda Anil Kumar Thakur, ACR Doda Ashraf Parvez, PO ICDS Akhtar Qazi, CMO Doda, CEO Doda, officers from civil and police administration, besides a large number of people who gathered to see off the pilgrims.

Interacting with the pilgrims, the Deputy Commissioner and SSP Doda congratulated them on getting the opportunity to perform the holy Hajj and wished them a safe, peaceful and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage. They also appealed to the pilgrims to pray for lasting peace, prosperity and communal harmony in Jammu & Kashmir and District Doda.

The officials informed that a total of 37 pilgrims from across District Doda are scheduled to perform Hajj, including 07 from Thathri, 05 from Bhaderwah, 02 from Kahara, 02 from Gandoh-Bhalessa and 05 from Marmat, besides pilgrims from Doda and other areas of the district.

The officials further informed that around 90 pilgrims from District Doda are expected to perform Hajj this year.

The flag-off ceremony concluded with prayers for the well-being and safe return of all the pilgrims.
