ONE DAY SEMINAR CUM INNOVATION HACKATHON ORGANIZED BY GDC DODA ON 11-08-2023.

Institution Innovation Council (IIC) in collaboration with J&K Science Technology and Innovation Council, Udhampur, organized One Day Seminar Cum Innovation Hackathon based on themes “Role of technology in environmental protection” and “Innovation and Entrepreneurship”. The seminar began with welcome address by Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college. Ms. Shruti Khanna, District Coordinator, J&K Science Technology and Innovation Council congratulated and appreciated the teamwork of GDC Doda for organizing this event and she apprised the students about innovative ideas. It was followed by the first technical session in which expert lectures were delivered by Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Head, Institute of Mountain Environment, University of Jammu, Bhaderwah Campus; Dr. Sunil Bhardwaj, Head, The Business School, University of Jammu, Bhaderwah Campus; Dr. Vishal Sharma, Head, Department of Electronics, Govt. M.A.M. College, Jammu. Online expert lecture was delivered by Dr. Prasoon Kumar Gupta, Principal Scientist, Natural Products & Medicinal Chemistry Division, CSIR – Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine. The resource persons shared their expertise on diverse topics related to wildlife monitoring, innovation and entrepreneurship, green technology and medicinal chemistry of indigenous plants. The hackathon in the second session was adjudged by Dr. Vishal Sharma, Dr Lokinder Singh and Dr Sarvjeet Singh. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes were bagged by Fitra (GDC Doda); Aniket Kumar and Sandeep Sharma (GHSS, Boys, Doda); Atika Showkat (GDC Doda), respectively. The consolation prizes were given to Tahira Banoo, Iffat Un Nisa and Zainab Sadeeqa. The valedictory address was presented by Chief Guest Prof. Basharat Iqbal, Principal GDC Thathri. Dr. Rakesh Jasrotia, Head, Department of Geography, Govt. MAM College, Jammu, acted as Guest of Honour for the programme. The formal vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Masood Ayoub, ARIAA Coordinator, IIC, GDC Doda. The proceedings of the event were conducted by Dr. Sumit Kotwal, Convener, IIC, GDC Doda. Dr. Akrity Parihar, Innovation Coordinator of the college IIC facilitated the smooth presentation by participants for the hackathon. The faculty and expert members who participated in the event included Dr. Ajaz Ahmed Wani, Prof. K.K. GDC Doda organizes one day seminar about entrepreneurship on 13-05-2023:
Institution Innovation Council (IIC), GDC Doda organized seminar on Successful entrepreneurship in the college premises. The seminar was organized under the able guidance and patronage of Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, President, IIC, GDC Doda. In this seminar a successful business enterprise of Doda district namely “Yazu Digitals’ was invited to share their successful journey as an entrepreneur to the students. The seminar was divided into three sessions. In the first session, Danish Rasool, co-founder of Yazu Digitals, deliberated upon the profile of his company and the successful projects which they have done in the recent years. In the second session, Azhar Nabi Batt, Founder and CEO of Yazu digitals presented a detailed expert lecture about entrepreneurship. In his session, he deliberated upon the basic requisites for entrepreneurship and how to achieve great strides in this sector. This session was followed by the Q&A session in which students asked questions to the expert and satiated their curiosity. In third session, the students were involved in an activity to find the problems in their area and suggest solutions and strategy for the redressal of same. The best 10 student ideas were felicitated with certificates on this occasion. Also, the review of the technical sessions was presented by Dr. Sumit Kotwal, Convener, IIC, GDC Doda and Prof. Zain Ul Abdeen Banday. The formal vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Tasir Sharief, Internship Coordinator. The faculty and expert members who participated in the workshop included Prof. Akrity Parihar, Dr. Masood Ayoub Kaloo, Prof. Amit Kumar, Prof. Zain Batt, Dr. Anayetullah Wani, Dr. Akhter Hussain, Prof. Purnima Manhas and Sorab Kotwal.

GDC Doda organizes Seminar Cum Workshop on Fundamentals of Teaching Research Skills and Entrepreneurship

Institution Innovation Council (IIC), GDC Doda organized a seminar cm workshop on the topic titled “Fundamentals of Teaching Research Skills and Entrepreneurship”. The event was organized under the able guidance and patronage of Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal and President, Institution Innovation Council. In the first session, the introductory lecture about idea of innovation and its ecosystem was delivered by Dr. Tasir Sharief, Internship Coordinator & HoD Botany. In the second session, the keynote lecture was delivered by Dr. Masood Ayoub Kaloo, ARIIA Coordinator & Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, GDC Doda. He is an alumnus of IISER, Bhopal and has published his research work in journals of international repute. He deliberated upon the basic requisites of research skills for faculty members and students. He also explained about the different types of entrepreneurship and its sequential progression, which can be emulated by college students. He also mentioned about the funding agencies available in the UT of J&K for promoting the young talent in the area. The workshop session was followed by the Q&A session in which students asked questions to the experts and satiated their curiosity. The proceedings of the event were conducted by Dr. Sumit Kotwal, IIC Convener. The other experts and faculty members who participated in the workshop included Dr. Jamsheed Ahmed (HoD English), Dr. Akrity Parihar (Innovation activity coordinator), Prof. Purnima Manhas, Dr. Mohd Aslam Rather (NIRF Coordinator), Prof. Zain Batt (IPR Coordinator), Prof. Younas Rashid (Member), Prof. Zain Ul Abdeen Banday.

GDC Doda organizes online workshop on Entrepreneurship and Innovation as a Career Opportunity (held on 22-12-2022)
Institution Innovation Council (IIC), GDC Doda organized an online workshop on the topic titled “Entrepreneurship and Innovation as a Career Opportunity”. The workshop was organized under the able guidance and patronage of Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, President, IIC, GDC Doda. The ‘Institution Innovation Cell’ at GDC Doda has been established under the initiative of Ministry of Education (MoE), Govt. of India to systematically foster the culture of Innovation in this institution of higher learning. The primary mandate of IIC is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new, unique ideas and transform them into prototypes while they are informative years. Dr. Sunil Bhardwaj, HoD, The Business School, Bhaderwah Campus, acted as Resource Person for this workshop. His areas of specialization include Financial Markets and Instruments; Entrepreneurship and Skill Development; and Financial Economics. He deliberated upon the basic requisites for entrepreneurship and main drivers of creativity and innovation. He also mentioned about the funding agencies available in the UT of J&K for nurturing the young talent in the area. The workshop session was followed by the Q&A session in which students asked questions to the expert and satiated their curiosity.
