Investiture Ceremony 2026 at Mahabodhi School, Jyotipur, Diyun
25th June 2026: Mahabodhi School, Jyotipur, Diyun, celebrated its Investiture Ceremony 2026 with great enthusiasm, dignity, and pride. The programme marked an important occasion as student leaders were formally entrusted with their responsibilities for the academic year, while outstanding achievers were recognized for their academic excellence.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Shri Sangey Thinley, APPS, Superintendent of Police, Namsai, as the Chief Guest, in the presence of Venerable Bhikkhu Sanghadatta, Director of Mahabodhi Maitri Mandala, Diyun Branch, and Shri Sonam Dhanava, General Manager, Mahabodhi Maitri Mandala Arunachal Branch, Diyun.
The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing wisdom, knowledge, and enlightenment. This was followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Mr. Basanta Kumar Chakma, Principal of Mahabodhi School, Jyotipur, Diyun , who greeted the distinguished guests, parents, staff members, and students. In his address, he highlighted the importance of leadership, discipline, and responsibility in shaping the future of young learners.
A special highlight of the programme was the presentation of the Ven. Dr. Acharya Buddharakkhita Scholarship Certificates to the school toppers in recognition of their outstanding academic performance and dedication to excellence. As a mark of encouragement, the Mahabodhi Management waived the tuition fees of the class toppers for the academic session 2026–2027. The students, accompanied by their proud parents, received the certificates from the Chief Guest and Venerable Bhikkhu Sanghadatta.
Thereafter, Venerable Bhikkhu Sanghadatta delivered his blessing message, emphasizing that true leadership begins with self-discipline, responsibility, and right conduct. Drawing inspiration from the teachings of the Buddha, he reminded the newly elected student leaders that leadership is not about authority but about service, compassion, and setting a positive example for others. He encouraged students to strive for personal excellence while contributing to the welfare of others and to uphold the values of honesty, discipline, and dedication in all aspects of life. Congratulating the newly appointed leaders, he urged them to carry out their responsibilities with wisdom, confidence, and a strong sense of duty.
Bhanteji also expressed his sincere gratitude to Shri Sangey Thinley for graciously accepting the invitation to attend the programme despite his demanding schedule.
The highlight of the ceremony was the formal presentation of sashes and badges to the newly elected student leaders. Mr. Ongsha Engling was honoured as the Head Boy, while Ms. Junmai Jamaikhum was honoured as the Head Girl for the academic year. Along with them, the members of the Students’ Council were entrusted with their duties and responsibilities. The student leaders solemnly took their oath of office, administered by the Chief Guest, Shri Sangey Thinley.
The programme also witnessed the presentation of sashes and badges to the House Masters, House Captains, and Vice-Captains, symbolizing their commitment to leadership, teamwork, and service to the school community.
Following the investiture, the Head Boy and Head Girl delivered their speeches, expressing gratitude for the trust placed in them and pledging to lead by example while upholding the values and ideals of Mahabodhi School.
The school proudly recognized the achievements of students who excelled in the Indian Talent Olympiad (ITO), a prestigious national-level competition. Certificates were awarded to the participants and achievers in recognition of their commendable performance and hard work.
The gathering was then addressed by the Chief Guest, Shri Sangey Thinley, who shared valuable insights on leadership, discipline, responsibility, and perseverance. He encouraged students to lead with integrity, work diligently toward their goals, and contribute positively to society. Congratulating the newly elected student leaders, he reminded them that with responsibility comes accountability and urged them to lead by example. His inspiring words motivated the students to face challenges with confidence and strive for excellence in both academics and character. He also expressed his appreciation to Mahabodhi School and Mahabodhi Maitri Mandala, Diyun, for inviting him to be part of the occasion.
The celebration was further enriched by a vibrant cultural programme presented by the students. The audience was delighted by melodious songs, energetic dances, and captivating traditional performances that beautifully showcased the talents and creativity of the children.
Adding excitement to the event was the much-awaited Mr. Fresher and Ms. Fresher Competition, where students enthusiastically displayed their confidence, talent, and personality. Mr. Hemanta Chakma was adjudged Mr. Fresher 2026, while Ms. Medina Chakma was crowned Ms. Fresher 2026. Their achievement was warmly applauded by the audience and added further joy to the celebration.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Shanti Kumar Chakma, Vice Principal of Mahabodhi School, Jyotipur, Diyun, who expressed gratitude to the distinguished guests, parents, staff members, and students for making the event a grand success. The ceremony ended with the singing of the National Anthem, leaving everyone with a sense of pride, inspiration, and renewed commitment.
