Wanted to post this yesterday, but better late than never ✨

28th September — World Rabies Day. 💉🌍

And this year, Diu witnessed something truly historic — something that, to our knowledge, had never been achieved before in Diu. 🙌🏻

In just 2 months, Rainbow Animal Aid privately vaccinated 1,000+ community dogs against Rabies. 💪🏻🐾

No catcher.
No dedicated vaccination team.
Not even a single volunteer.

Just three hoomans who refused to stop. 🧍🏻‍♂️🧍‍♀️🧍🏻‍♂️

Through the ongoing heat wave, heavy rains and storms, we kept going — because Rabies prevention cannot wait for perfect weather or perfect circumstances.

But this mission didn’t begin this year.

Since 2019, Rainbow Animal Aid has been working for Rabies prevention in Diu on a small scale, year after year, privately and at our own expense.

And this year, we decided to take it a step further.

We set ourselves one goal:

**1,000 community dogs.

2 months.
No excuses.**

And today, we can proudly say —

WE DID IT. ❤️‍🔥

To our knowledge, never before in Diu’s history had 1,000 community dogs been vaccinated against Rabies through one focused campaign — and there had never been a dedicated anti-Rabies vaccination drive of this scale.

1,000 vaccinations.
1,000 community dogs protected.
And potentially thousands of people and animals safer because of it. 🐾💉

But this milestone doesn’t belong to us alone.

It belongs to every local feeder, caregiver and community member who helped us identify these dogs, feed them, hold them, calm them, keep an eye on them and make vaccination possible.

YOU are the real heroes. 🤝🏻❤️

A vaccinated community dog isn’t just a protected animal.

It is a layer of protection for the entire community.

And this is why vaccination, awareness and responsible population management matter far more than fear, cruelty or relocation.

From the first few vaccinations in 2019
to 1,000+ vaccinated dogs in just two months in 2026 —

this has been a journey of persistence, not privilege.

Thank you to everyone who stood with us, believed in this mission and helped us keep going.

From 1st to 5th September, we received countless animal medical cases from different parts of Diu Dangarwadi, Ghoghla, Vanakbara, Diu, Delwada and more.🐾

In just five days, there were so many cases that it simply wasn't possible to record every single one.

Sometimes, one of us is holding the animal while the other is providing treatment - and there's simply no one else around to hold the phone and record.📲

Because for us, treatment will always come before content.❤️‍🩹

Some cases involve cancer, some have high fever or severe infections, some have badly injured tails, and some even have exposed bones.💔

Around 70-80% of the animals we treat recover. But there are also cases where, despite giving everything we have, we just cannot save them.

Still, we show up. We go to them, especially the homeless animals who have no one to take them outside Diu for treatment.🐶😺

And now, we're looking for someone who genuinely loves animals and has a passion for recording, editing and content creation someone who would like to turn that passion into meaningful work.📽✨️

We don't have a shelter.🏠
We don't have a proper facility for large animals, dogs or cats.
We don't have a team at home or even regular helpers to care for the almost 50 animals already dependent on us.🐾

And when it comes to wildlife, Diu and the surrounding areas have no wildlife rescue or rehabilitation centre where we can simply take an injured animal and hand it over. There is no proper facility even for domestic animals.💔

So when a small, voiceless animal needs help, we somehow find the space, time, energy and resources to give them a chance.🤍

This little squirrel🐿 was recently electrocuted and brought to us. Our medical team has already provided the necessary primary treatment, but her prognosis is very poor. Her tiny heart is racing, and her condition remains extremely critical.💔

We know where this may be heading.

We know that there may not be much more medically that we can do.

But we can still give her comfort, warmth, care and dignity. 🫶

And for us, that is a basic responsibility - to not leave a voiceless life alone on the roadside simply because we don't have enough space, resources or a proper facility.🐾❤️

We may not have everything.
We may not have a team.
We may not have a shelter.

But as long as we can make a little space, we will.🐿🤍

Another day, another series of emergencies handled by Rainbow Animal Lifeline.❤️🐾

Diu does not have easy access to even basic emergency veterinary care.🏥

Not just Diu, but animals from surrounding villages and areas also struggle to access basic treatments like IV fluids.

Before Rainbow Animal Lifeline existed, we often had to travel to cities in Gujarat - especially Junagadh - just to get fluids administered.

And many critically ill animals simply cannot survive such a long journey.💔

Every single day, we see animals suffering from ticks and flea infestations.🐾
We also treated an injured dog who had been
trapped under a tractor and was in extremely critical condition.🚨

Another cat was in a critical state with abnormally high body temperature, loss of appetite, weakness, dehydration and restlessness - with the risk of organ failure.

Fluids were given and every effort was made to control the temperature.💧😺

At Diu Bus Stand, a puppy had suffered a serious head injury and was treated on the spot.🐶❤️‍🩹

But the biggest question remains...

Why, even today, are there no basic veterinary facilities for the animals of Diu?💔

These are voiceless beings. They cannot ask for help. They cannot earn money. They cannot tell us where it hurts.

If Rainbow Animal Lifeline did not exist, many of these animals may not have received even basic emergency care.🐾

So let's come together.🤝❤️
