We, the All India Karbi Students’ Union (AIKSU), Central Executive Committee, have successfully organized an Awareness cm Training Program on Sericulture and its Benefits,, with special focus on Muga and Eri rearing, for the farmers of Nilip Constituency on 12th August, 2026 at the Sports Complex Auditorium Hall, Chokihola, Nilip,. The program was conducted in collaboration with the Sericulture Department, KAAC, Diphu.

We are fully aware that the development of the Greater Nilip Area has lagged behind compared to other parts of the district. Most of the people in Nilip Constituency depend on agriculture and farming for their livelihood. Based on our assessment, Nilip has sufficient available land for farming and agriculture, and the climatic conditions are also favorable.

In this regard, we discussed the importance and necessity of conducting such an awareness program in Nilip with Sir Rongbong Rongphar, , Additional Director, Sericulture Department, KAAC, Diphu. With his initiative, he took a major step by deputing Sir Jagat Rabha, , Superintendent of Sericulture, Diphu-Bokajan Division, along with resource persons from North East India and the staff of the Sericulture Department to conduct the awareness program at Nilip.
The program included training on Muga and Eri rearing, silk reeling, spinning, plantation support, and the benefits of sericulture. We hope this initiative will help interested farmers become self-reliant and improve their socio-economic condition.

More than 40 farmers attended the program yesterday. Sir Elison Timung , President of Chokihola Police Station, also graced the occasion with his presence.

We express our sincere gratitude to the officers and staff of the Sericulture Department for visiting Nilip and providing valuable guidance, knowledge, and information. We also thank them for assuring all possible support to the farmers of Nilip. We look forward to working together for a better future for the farmers of both Karbi Anglong districts.
Lastly, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all the farmers for attending the program. Yesterday’s program was made possible because of your participation and support.
