Honoured to have shared today at the organised by IOM - UN Migration on “Enhancing Reintegration Outcomes for Indian Returnee Survivors of Overseas Trafficking and Modern Slavery” in

In my session on “From Lost Wages to Sustainable Livelihoods”, I spoke about what we see at Peace Trust, when Indian migrants return after exploitation abroad: unpaid wages, heavy debt, trauma, stigma – and very limited livelihood options at home.

I highlighted three pillars for meaningful economic reintegration:
- Restoring capability through life-skills, financial literacy, digital skills and work-readiness
- Restoring choice with training that matches local labour markets and survivor aspirations
- Restoring community connection by linking survivors into self-help groups, cooperatives and local economic structures

Grateful to IOM India for convening this timely dialogue, and to fellow panellists and participants for rich insights.
