On 19-07-2025, the Director (DFO) of the Forest Guard School (Makum), Mr. Saidul Alam sir, called and informed me that a snake had been spotted in the kitchen of Mr. Neelkamal Chetiya’s house near the Makum bypass, and it needed to be rescued. I immediately traveled from Digboi to Makum and, after much effort, safely rescued a non-venomous Indian rat snake from Mr. Chetiya’s house.

Last night, a sub-adult Monocled Cobra was rescued from behind the Garden Café restaurant in Ramnagar, Digboi, and safely released into the nearby forest.

🙏

Questioning the duty of Dr. Surajit Giri , an expert in snakebite treatment, and forcing him to step down by order of the magistrate.
Every nature conservationist, health worker, and science-minded person fighting against superstition is always with Dr. Surajit Giri sir and will always remain so.
Forcing sir to step down is an extremely shameful act for Assamese society.
Sir’s aim is to ensure that no one dies from snakebite. With this mission, apart from personally treating patients, he has also been training many health workers both online and offline across various parts of Assam and the country. He has also earned many honors.
I too have participated in several snakebite workshops conducted by sir and have learned a lot, and I regularly seek his advice and help connect people with him when needed.
Against this insult to sir, people must collectively raise their voice in protest and encourage sir to continue his noble work.
Whenever there is an accident caused by a snake or venomous creature and we call sir, he always does his best to help and is ever ready to spread awareness.
It is absolutely unacceptable to insult such a humanitarian doctor who has saved the lives of thousands of snakebite victims.
Surajit Giri

Just think how cruel humans can be. In a shocking incident, a tigress and her four cubs were killed in a village by poisoning the carcass of a cow. This tragic event took place in Karnataka's Male Mahadeshwara Hill Wildlife Sanctuary. Authorities have already arrested four culprits involved in this heinous act.
The only “mistake” the tigress made was hunting a cow to feed her cubs. Tigers have a natural instinct to store leftover meat for later consumption by hiding it. When these human-like monsters discovered the hidden meat, they laced it with poison and left it there. Tragically, the poisoned meat led to the death of five tigers.

On 01.07.2025, a Burmese python ingested a secured hen in the backyard of Biswajit Das' residence at Tingrai Bazaar in Digboi. As the python was entangled in the rope with the hen, it could not escape, and the incident was noticed the next morning. Upon receiving notification of the situation, I swiftly proceeded to the location, safely rescued the python, and subsequently released it into the nearby Lakhimpathar forest area. 🚨 Another Elephant Killed in Digboi: When Will the Silence End? 🐘

In the past 2–3 years, at least 10 elephants have been brutally killed in the Digboi Forest Division of Assam. The most recent tragedy occurred just yesterday—another majestic elephant electrocuted using high-tension wires, allegedly connected illegally to a Jal Jeevan Mission transformer. This is not an isolated incident. Just a month ago, a father and his two sons used the same method to kill an elephant and illegally sold its tusk on the black market.

Despite clear evidence and public outcry, the forest department under the Digboi DFO has failed to act decisively. Only one arrest was made in the earlier case, while the main culprits roam free. This pattern of negligence and inaction is emboldening poachers and wildlife criminals.

🔫 Locals are reportedly using handmade guns to hunt deer and other wildlife.. The region is turning into a lawless zone for wildlife, while local media houses, political leaders, and authorities remain disturbingly silent.

This is not just a local issue—it’s a national disgrace. Digboi lies within the Upper Dehing–Patkai Elephant Corridor, one of the most critical habitats for Asian elephants. The systemic failure to protect these sentient beings is a violation of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, and a betrayal of our constitutional duty under Article 51A(g).

We demand:
- Immediate investigation by an independent wildlife crime unit.
- Suspension and inquiry into the role of the DFO and forest staff.
- Arrest of all accused in the recent killings.
- Deployment of anti-poaching patrols and electrification audits.
- Media coverage and political accountability.

🛑 How many more elephants must die before we act?
