đŸ“ĸ One-Day Training Programme Successfully Conducted

Brahmaputra Foundation for Social Research & Livelihood Practice (BFSR&LP) organized a one-day training programme on stock management, customer data record-keeping, and income & expense register maintenance for the EmpowerHer girls and women group under our tailoring programme.

The session focused on building practical skills in maintaining essential records and registers, including stock registers, customer record books, and daily income–expense tracking. It also emphasized financial discipline and goal-setting for improved livelihood management. Participants actively engaged in hands-on exercises and discussions, enhancing their confidence to independently manage small business records.

This initiative reflects our continued commitment to strengthening financial literacy and promoting sustainable livelihood practices among community trainees.

✨ Celebrating Skill, Strength & New Beginnings! ✨

After three months of dedicated training in knitting and cutting, girls and women from tea gardens and nearby villages have successfully completed their journey towards becoming skilled artisans.

Through hands-on learning, they mastered stitching and designing 11 different women’s wear garments, turning their dreams into real, income-generating skills.

We are proud to share that 12 participants successfully completed the training and were awarded certificates in recognition of their hard work and commitment.

On this special occasion, Sri Bhusan Jyoti Handique, Principal of Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Junior College, graced the program with his presence and encouraged the trainees to move forward confidently toward a brighter future.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the newly trained artisans and wish them great success in their entrepreneurial journey ahead!

📚 Gyanshala – A Community Library & Learning Space Begins!

We are happy to share that Gyanshala, a community library and learning space, has been launched today on 28th February 2026 at Mohanbari Tea Estate, 7 No. Line. This initiative has been started by the Brahmaputra Foundation for Social Research and Livelihood Practice, in collaboration with the local community.

Gyanshala aims to create a vibrant learning environment in tea garden villages encouraging children, youth, and community members to read, learn, share ideas, and grow together. It is envisioned as a safe and inclusive space where education, dialogue, and community participation come together to build a holistic learning ecosystem.

Together, we take a step forward towards strengthening education, curiosity, and community ownership of learning.

From Dropout to Dream Builder

Meet Ms. Soniya Nag from Jalan Nagar Tea Estate, Dibrugarh

Soniya had to leave school after Class 3 due to family challenges. Her days were mostly spent at home, watching cloth-mending videos on her phone and trying to stitch using her grandmother’s old saree.

Seeing her interest, her parents supported her to learn from a nearby tailor—but she struggled to improve.

Everything changed when she joined the EmpowerHer Knitting & Cutting Training under the LiiFT Program of Brahmaputra Foundation for Social Research and Livelihood Practice.

Here, Soniya learned to stitch a wide range of women’s garments and baby clothes. Today, she is confident, skilled, and full of purpose.

Now, Soniya dreams of stitching women’s wear at home and selling it within her community turning her skill into a sustainable livelihood. đŸ’ĒđŸ§ĩ

Her journey is proof that with the right opportunity, every dream can find its thread.

A meaningful TLM Development Workshop was conducted at the Learning Corner of Maijan Poccaline LP School with Self-Help Group women and parents of primary school students. The workshop focused on strengthening the capacity of community stakeholders to support and improve foundational literacy among children.

During our ongoing work with tea garden communities, we observed that many parents and guardians face challenges in supporting learning at home. To address this, the workshop introduced simple, practical Teaching Learning Materials (TLMs) and hands-on strategies that parents and SHG members can use to engage children in reading and learning activities at home.

By empowering families and community stakeholders with the right tools and skills, we are building a supportive learning environment where every child gets the opportunity to develop strong foundational literacy and thrive.
