A Dogged Pursuit
Stray animals, especially dogs, are always seen as a menace to the humans. There are various ways to ensure that community dogs (strays) are eliminated over a period of time without restoring to killing and any such cruel methods. It needs a holistic approach. These community dogs as shown in the picture get a dose of community living. A
certain degree of domestication is the first step to reduce man–animal conflict. Most of the dogs (bi***es) were given birth control pills during the onset of oestrus with hundred percent success rate over the last five years. Population control through non-invasive methods is quite helpful in the absence of any organized structure and dearth of funds for the classical method of castration. Also, an awareness campaign (Do's & Don’ts while dealing with strays) is of utmost importance. The Bagchi couple has been spearheading a campaign to achieve these objectives. After all, dogs too have a right to life!
