🌱 Local Stakeholder Meeting for Tasar Host Plantation Programme Held at Sundarpahari, Godda 🌱

On 8th June 2026, Tasar Development Foundation (TDF) in collaboration with Cognisphere Solutions Limited (CSL) organized a Local Stakeholder Meeting at the Block Meeting Hall, Sundarpahari, Godda.

The meeting witnessed the active participation of the BDO, Sundarpahari; Head of KVK Godda; Assistant Professor from the Agriculture College; Block Chairman, Sundarpahari; Vice Chairman, Godda District; officials from the Forest Department and Sericulture Department; representatives from PRADAN; local Mukhiya and community members from the villages where plantation activities are being implemented.

The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration among stakeholders and discussing strategies for the successful implementation of the Tasar Host Plantation Programme. Participants shared valuable insights on community participation, plantation management, and sustainable livelihood development through tasar sericulture.

For the year 2026, Tasar Development Foundation (TDF) has planned to establish 175 hectares of tasar host plantations on privately owned community lands, creating new opportunities for livelihood enhancement, environmental conservation, and the promotion of sustainable tasar-based enterprises.

Together, we are working towards building stronger rural livelihoods through sustainable tasar development.

🌿 Tasar Silkworm Disease Monitoring Committee Visit to Bhorsar BSPU,Lilavaran-I and Lilavaran-II BSPU Banka, Bihar 🌿
As part of the Tasar Silkworm Disease Monitoring Programme, an expert team visited Bhorsar BSPU,Lilavaran-I and Lilavaran-II BSPU Banka, Bihar to review cocoon preservation practices and assess the disease percentage in the preserved cocoons.
The visiting team included:

During the visit, the team interacted with our Director, Mr. Rajendra Kumar Khandai, and discussed cocoon preservation methods along with the DFL distribution plan for the upcoming season. The scientists also inspected the cocoon preservation facility and conducted pupae examinations to evaluate the disease incidence in the preserved cocoons.

On 30.05.2026 DMF staff from Jajpur DMF, the Forester of Sukinda, and the OLM Block Coordinator recently visited the Microscopist Refresher Training Programme at Mangalpur PPC organised by the Tasar Development Foundation.

During the visit, the dignitaries interacted with the training participants and discussed various aspects of silkworm moth testing, disease detection, and quality tasar egg production. The interaction provided valuable insights and encouragement to the microscopists, helping strengthen the quality seed production system.

The team also visited the newly established Tasar Host Plantation Patch at Haripur, Sukinda, where they reviewed the plantation activities .

On 27.05.2026, the newly enrolled beneficiaries of the Tasar Host Plant Plantation Programme participated in an exposure visit to established plantation patches of Godda district in Jharkhand. During the visit, they interacted with experienced beneficiaries to gain firsthand knowledge about Tasar cultivation, plantation management practices, and the benefits of the programme.

The beneficiaries also visited the Siktiya BSPU, where they were introduced to the Tasar seed value chain. They learned about various stages of seed production, cocoon preservation, disease management, and the overall process involved in ensuring the availability of quality Tasar seed.

The exposure visit provided valuable practical insights and enhanced the beneficiaries' understanding of Tasar-based livelihoods, motivating them to actively participate in the plantation and silkworm rearing activities.

🌱 Intercropping Training Programme at Panasuan, Banspal 🌱

On 19th May 2026, Mrs. Priyanka Priyadarshini Mishra, BAO, Banspal, attended the intercropping training programme conducted at the Tasar host tree plantation patch in Panasuan, Banspal.

During the programme, she interacted with the project beneficiaries who are actively participating in the intercropping activities. The session provided an excellent platform for sharing field-level experiences, technical knowledge, and best practices related to sustainable intercropping methods.
Such visits and training programmes not only enhance the knowledge and confidence of the beneficiaries but also help us strengthen the implementation and impact of the programme at the grassroots level.

The visiting scientists and Government officials from West Bengal appreciated the cocoon preservation facility and the systematic management practices being followed at the BSPU. Their valuable suggestions and technical guidance will help strengthen quality seed production and disease management efforts.

As part of the Tasar Silkworm Disease Monitoring Programme, an expert team visited Khajurimundi BSPU, Keonjhar, Odisha to review cocoon preservation practices and assess the disease percentage in the preserved cocoons.

The visiting scientists and Government officials from Odisha highly appreciated the cocoon preservation facility and the systematic management practices being followed at the BSPU. Their valuable observations and technical guidance will further strengthen quality seed production and disease management efforts.

🌿 Strengthening Tasar Seed Production for 2026–27 🌿

On10th May 2026 a team of esteemed scientists comprising Dr. N. K. Bhatia, Director BTSSO, Dr. J. P. Pandey, Scientist-D,BTSSO, Ms. K. Bhargavi, Scientist-B from RSRS Dumka, and Ms. Bhimisetty Gowthami, Scientist-B from BSMTC Kathikund, visited the Bajrisol BSPU to review and discuss cocoon preservation and the DFL production plan for the year 2026–27.

During the visit, the team interacted with our Seed Coordinator, Mr. Rajiv Dubey, and held detailed discussions on improving cocoon preservation practices and strengthening DFL production activities. The scientists shared valuable technical guidance and suggestions that will help enhance the quality and efficiency of seed production in the coming season.

Such field-level interactions and expert guidance play an important role in strengthening sustainable tasar sericulture development and empowering grassroots production systems. 🌱

🌿 Exposure Visit on Post Cocoon Activities 🌿

After a detailed discussion with NABARD DDM, Pakur, a team comprising interested women participants and staff members from IDEAL NGO visited the Hadgarh and Gurmapahadi centres of Dumka district to gain practical exposure at village-level reeling and spinning activities.

During the visit, the team interacted closely with the women engaged in spinning activities to better understand the processes, challenges, and livelihood opportunities associated with post cocoon activities. The participants also got hands-on experience by performing some of the reeling and spinning work themselves, helping them gain deeper insight into the traditional skills and techniques involved.
