🐏 🦢World Veterinary Day 2026 | Gram Seva, Khurudih

At Pravah, we know healthy livestock means healthy communities.

On 25th April 2026, with SBI Foundation’s support under Gram Seva, we organized a Free Animal Health Camp in Khurudih, Deoghar to mark .

For small farmers, cattle are livelihoods, not just animals. Yet veterinary care remains out of reach. We’re bridging that gap.

Impact in one day:
🐄 100+ animals treated by expert vets
💉 AI services + deworming for better productivity
☀️ Summer management training for heat stress
🩺 FMD, Mastitis, Infertility diagnosis & care
🌱 Azolla & Napier grass demo for climate-smart fodder

The highlight: Women livestock farmers led the charge, reaffirming why gender-inclusive extension matters.

We don’t just run camps—we build capacities with communities.

Thanks to SBI Foundation, District Animal Husbandry Dept, local vets, and our Gram Seva Fellows for making this possible.

"Swasth Pashu, Swasth Samaaj" – Stronger animals, stronger villages.

Gram Seva Program | Real Stories, Real Impact from the Field 🚜🩺🌾

Field work is about people, trust, and timely action. Three moments this week show Gram Seva’s impact, supported by SBI Foundation and Pravah:

🚜 Shalihotra Express: When Hope Walks 3 Kilometers
Elderly farmer Kisku Rai carried two sick goat kids 3 km to Devinagar. Shalihotra Express gave immediate treatment. Relief replaced fear.
Impact: More than animal care — it’s restoring village faith.

🩺 Sanjeevani Health Camp: Healthcare + Awareness
70-80 students & teachers at Model High School got free check-ups, medicines, and health guidance. Girls gained confidence using the Common Room.
Impact: Building awareness and preventive health culture.

🌾 Livelihoods Taking Wing: Women-Led Poultry
Osila Bibi, Noorjahan Bibi, Rashmuni Murmu & others started duck-poultry farming in Devinagar & Khurudih.
Impact: Creating income, self-reliance, and role models for Atmanirbhar villages.

The Bigger Picture: From livestock to student health to women’s enterprise — Gram Seva builds trust, one village at a time.

Pravah Celebrates Earth Day 2026 | Nawadih & Dulodih – One Earth, Shared Action 🌍

This Earth Day, Pravah marked _Our Power, Our Planet_ with grassroots action across two blocks, bringing together 100+ community members to turn awareness into action.

📍 Nawadih Village
With 50 local stakeholders and community members, we celebrated Earth Day by giving back to the land.
🌳 20 fruit-bearing saplings planted — food, shade, and carbon capture for years to come.
🌱 Sustainable agriculture sessions focused on bio-fertilizers to revive soil health and cut chemical pollution.
💧 Grey water reuse demo shared simple ways to tackle summer water scarcity, drop by precious drop.

📍 Dulodih Village, Sonaraithari Block
Facilitated by Pravah, 50 farmers — with powerful participation from women farmers — came together to rethink farming’s future.
We opened with Earth Pujan, an act of gratitude to the soil that feeds us. Through slogans, dialogue, and a field visit, we explored real steps every farm can take:
→ Shift from chemicals to natural alternatives
→ Save every drop with smart irrigation
→ Protect soil with organic matter & crop residue
→ Plant trees as farm infrastructure
→ Stop residue burning, start residue recycling

Messages that echoed in both villages:
🌿 Healthy soil, healthy life
🌾 Save water today for farming tomorrow
🌳 Every farm needs trees
🌏 Protect nature, protect our future

From fruit trees in Nawadih to women farmers leading climate-smart change in Dulodih, one thing is clear — when villages act, the Earth responds. For us, Earth Day isn’t one day. It’s every seed sown, every drop saved, every hand that chooses to farm with nature, not against it.

Small steps. Village power. Big impact.

World Earth Day 2026

When: Today — Wednesday, 22 April 2026
Theme for 2026: _Our Power, Our Planet_

What it is:
Earth Day is the world’s largest environmental movement, celebrated every year on 22 April. It started in 1970 in the US and now 190+ countries take part with 1 billion+ people. The day is about pushing governments, businesses, and individuals to act on climate change, pollution, deforestation, and biodiversity loss.

Why 2026 theme matters:
_Our Power, Our Planet_ focuses on the need to triple renewable energy globally by 2030. It’s a call to shift power — literally and politically — from fossil fuels to solar, wind, and community-led clean energy. The idea: clean energy isn’t just tech, it’s people power.

3 simple ways anyone can mark Earth Day today:
1. Audit 1 habit: Switch off lights, carry a bottle, refuse 1 plastic item.
2. Plant or protect: Plant a native sapling, or water the trees already around you.
3. Talk about it: Share 1 fact with your team/family. Awareness → action.

One-line you can post:
"This Earth Day, remember: the planet gives us power every single day. Time we gave some back.

✨ From Ponds to Entrepreneurship: A Day in the Field | 20 April 2026

Some meetings happen in boardrooms. The ones that matter most happen under Mahua trees.

Today, our Secretary Dilip Sir spent the day walking through Devinagar, Gangmudi, and Lalchua — not to inspect, but to listen, learn, and co-plan with the community under our Gram Seva program.

⚡ What did we see? Real change, brick by brick.
In Devinagar, a newly revived pond is already holding water ahead of summer, while children at the Model School now sip safe, filtered water between classes. We also checked on the Common Girls’ Room — a small space making a big difference in school attendance.

Gangmudi was buzzing with activity: a sturdy iron bridge now connects hamlets that were cut off during rains, new goat sheds are ready for women SHG members, and ducks waddled past thriving trellis farms where farmers are growing creeper vegetables vertically — more crop, less land.

Over in Lalchua, community hands are busy rejuvenating an old pond, turning a defunct water body into a future source of irrigation and fisheries.

⚡ The real takeaway came after, at our GSK office huddle.
Dilip Sir’s message was clear: “Assets are important. But entrepreneurs are unstoppable.” The next phase is about backing village micro-entrepreneurs — the didi starting a goat unit, the youth setting up a duck hatchery, the farmer experimenting with machan kheti. Alongside, we’re doubling down on livestock and climate-smart farming as core pillars of rural income.

At Pravah, we don’t run projects. We nurture possibilities. And today’s field visit showed us 100+ such possibilities taking root.

What’s one rural innovation that has inspired you lately? Tell us in comments.

Pravah's Green Thumb: Transforming PVTG Lives 🌿
Pravah's initiative has been a game-changer for the PVTG (Primitive tribe) villages, introducing them to the concept of kitchen gardening in a super accessible way through the village was facing water scarcity. Despite the remote location, Pravah's team worked closely with the community to create a thriving kitchen garden using less water. Now, these families aren't just growing their own fresh veggies, but they're also selling the surplus at the local hatiya's (market). This has not only improved their diet with natural, homegrown produce but also given them a decent seasonal income. It's awesome to see the impact – healthier food on their plates and a bit of extra cash in their pockets!!! However the journey was so tough though because nobody believes in can be possible, but when it's happening now it's really hit as a game changer with a very small inputs.
