School Level Awareness Program on Child Sexual Abuse & Human Trafficking

We recently organized a School Level Awareness Program at Shikaripara, Dumka with a clear objective: *to strengthen community responsiveness in preventing child sexual abuse and human trafficking through knowledge and awareness*.
Key focus areas:
- Educating children about safe and unsafe touch, trusted adults, and how to speak up
- Sensitizing teachers & parents to identify early warning signs and report concerns
- Building community vigilance so exploitation is prevented before it starts
Change begins when we refuse to stay silent. When schools, families, and communities act together, we create protective circles around our children.

Celebrating International Yoga Day 2026 with Rural Youth🧘‍♂️✨

On 21st June 2026, under the Gram Seva Program of SBI Foundation, Team PRAVAH organized International Yoga Day at the Yuva Prashikshan Kendra.
Young participants practiced various asanas and pranayama and learned about the profound benefits of yoga for physical and mental well-being. The energy was inspiring, with every participant pledging to make yoga a part of their daily routine.
At PRAVAH, we believe healthy youth build resilient communities. Through Gram Seva, we remain committed to holistic youth development.

🚫 RED CARD TO CHILD LABOUR! ⚽

Fair Play for Children, Decent Work for Adults

On June 12, 2026, Pravah Organisation, Shikaripara branch, took the message to the ground in Kolaibari village, Sonadhab Panchayat, Dumka.

What we did:

An awareness program on World Day Against Child Labour to tackle child labour, child trafficking, child marriage, and all forms of child abuse — because every child deserves a childhood, not a workplace.

Key messages from Project Coordinator Prem Kumar:

📜 The Law is Clear: Under the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition & Regulation) Act, 1986, employing children below 14 years is prohibited. Adolescents aged 14–18 years cannot work in hazardous occupations or industries.

⚠️ The Reality: Poverty, unemployment, and lack of awareness are exploited by employers. Child labour is a serious violation of child rights.

🛡️ The Solution: The Constitution and laws provide safeguards, but awareness and access to services are critical. Child safety is a _shared responsibility_ — of families, communities, and every stakeholder.

Pravah’s 4-Year Commitment in Shikaripara:

✅ Preventing child sexual abuse & human trafficking

✅ Community awareness & strengthening local institutions

✅ Capacity building of service providers & duty bearers

✅ Improving access to govt. schemes for vulnerable children

Who joined the dialogue?

School students, SMC members, Anganwadi workers, Majhi-Baisi representatives, Health Workers, Adolescent Groups, shopkeepers, hotel owners & villagers. Because ending child labour needs _everyone_ on the team.

The Takeaway:

Protecting children isn’t optional. It needs active community participation + strong inter-departmental coordination. Let’s give child labour a _red card_ and let children play, learn, and grow.

Breaking the Silence, Building Confidence 🌸
Menstrual Hygiene Day in Devinagar

In Devinagar, silence around periods ended this Menstrual Hygiene Day. Under the SBI Gram Seva Program, SBI Foundation and Pravah Organisation reminded women and girls that periods are normal and dignity is a right.

✅️ The day began with open talks. Health workers spoke with women and girls about menstrual health, myths, and hygiene. For many, it was the first chance to ask about cramps, cloth use, and pad disposal without shame.

✅️ Then the message went public. Girls and women led an awareness rally through Devinagar. Posters and voices reached every lane. The village saw that menstrual health is a topic for all.

✅️ At the Model School, change is visible. The *Girls Common Room* offers a safe space to rest and change. The *Girls Common Bathroom* is clean and private. With water and proper upkeep, girls now attend school every day.

Why Menstrual Hygiene Matters Daily

1. Use clean products🩸 Change pads or cloth every 4 to 6 hours.
2. Stay clean🚿 Wash hands before and after. Bathe daily. Use water only.
3. Dispose safely🗑️ Wrap used pads. Wash cloth with soap and dry in sunlight.
4. Track your cycle 📅 Know your dates. Seek help for unusual pain or flow.
5. Eat and rest🥬 Iron-rich foods like jaggery and greens help. Drink water.
6. Speak up🤝 Severe pain is not normal. Talk to an ASHA or doctor. Family support matters.

This program gave girls confidence and women a voice. When periods are managed with dignity, education continues and communities grow stronger.

Hygiene is health. Health is confidence. Confidence changes everything. ✨

🌱✨ Pravah successfully organized a One-Day Workshop on “Leadership Excellence & Strategic Growth” at the Pravah Head Office, Deoghar.

The workshop brought together team members from different projects and districts to strengthen leadership capacities, monitoring systems, reporting standards, innovation strategies, and collaborative learning for effective grassroots implementation. 🤝📊

💫 Jagriti: Suraksh*t Bachpan, Suraksh*t Bhavishya

On 20 May 2026, an awareness program on Child Safety and the POCSO Act was organized at Sant Rita Uchcha Vidyalaya, Shikaripara, under _Jagriti: Suraksh*t Bachpan, Suraksh*t Bhavishya_, as directed by the District Child Protection Officer, Dumka.

Key focus of the session:
🔹 Educating students on child rights & prevention of child sexual abuse
🔹 Understanding safe and unsafe touch through child-friendly discussions
🔹 Online safety and recognizing unsafe situations
🔹 Information on available support services and protective measures

The program highlighted the crucial role of teachers, parents, police, Childline, Child Welfare Committee, and child protection agencies in ensuring a safe environment for children.

Students were also briefed on emergency helpline numbers 112, 1098, 181, 1930 and the use of the 112 mobile app for timely support.

Hundreds of students participated actively, reinforcing how continuous awareness and collective effort are essential for child protection and adolescent empowerment.

Because every child deserves a childhood free from fear.

Empowering Rural Livelihoods: Climate-Smart Value Addition in Jama Block 🌿☀️

We’re thrilled to share a powerful impact story from Amgachhi Village, Tengdhowa Panchayat, Jama Block. Our latest intervention is helping smallholder farmers switch from traditional methods to tech-driven agriculture! 🚜✨

🌶️ The Challenge: Post-Harvest Loss
Traditionally, farmers dried red chilies in the open. Dust, moisture, and pests meant huge "post-harvest loss" and lower market prices due to poor hygiene and faded color. 😔

☀️ The Solution: Solar Dryer Technology
To tackle this, we introduced Solar Dryer technology — a sustainable, eco-friendly way to process crops. It uses solar thermal energy to dry chilies in a controlled, hygienic space, locking in nutrients + that vibrant red color! 🔴

👩🏽‍🌾 The Impact Makers: Manju Devi & Fulin Kisku
Leading this change are two inspiring women farmers:
✅ Manju Devi – processed 70 kg of chilies using the solar dryer
✅ Fulin Kisku – utilized the facility for 40 kg of her harvest

Value Addition: "A-Grade" solar-dried chilies = premium market price 💰
Climate Resilience: Renewable energy = lower carbon footprint 🌍
Economic Empowerment: Less waste + better quality = higher household income for women farmers 💪🏽

Strengthening Rural Livelihoods: Key Milestones on 12th May 2026 🌱

1. Technology for Farmers
On 12th May 2026, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Pakur handed over an electric oil press machine to PRAVAH. A live demonstration was conducted with farmers, showcasing its operation, efficiency, and benefits.

This machine will enable farmers to extract high-quality oil in less time — opening new avenues for value addition, income generation, and self-employment at the village level. The enthusiasm and curiosity of farmers during the demo was truly encouraging.

2. Team Alignment for Impact
On the same day, we held a comprehensive planning meeting at our office with Gram Sevaks, Remedial Teachers, YTC staff, Computer Teachers, and Field Officers.

The team reviewed past progress and strategized upcoming activities across agriculture, livestock development, entrepreneurship, and community initiatives. Clear action plans were set to deepen our grassroots impact.
