This Independence Day, the CanKids family celebrated across Delhi and our centres around India with flag hoisting, colours, performances, smiles and children proudly carrying the Tiranga.

We were also delighted to welcome Ms. Deeya Bajaj as Chief Guest for our Independence Day celebration. Her message of courage, resilience and believing in what is possible set the tone for a day filled with pride and togetherness.

For us, freedom also carries a deeper meaning.

It means every child with cancer having access to care, dignity, support and the opportunity to look towards tomorrow.

It means reminding every child and every family:

From the highest peaks to the challenges we face every day, courage often begins with one decision — to keep moving forward!

As part of the CanKids Leadership Conversation Series, we were honoured to welcome Ms. Deeya Bajaj, mountaineer, adventurer, explorer and motivational speaker, for a powerful conversation on courage, resilience and possibility.

Her experiences reminded us that every summit looks different and that strength is often found not in the absence of fear, but in choosing the next step despite it.

For us at CanKids, that message carries a special meaning.

Strengthening the first line of response for childhood cancer in Rewa.

On 13 August 2026, a one-day district-level training for RBSK Medical Officers, Pediatricians and Block/District Health Officials was organised in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, under the joint initiative of the National Health Mission and CanKids KidsCan.

The training focused on one of the most critical factors in improving childhood cancer outcomes — early identification, timely screening and prompt referral.

Healthcare professionals from across Rewa district were sensitised on early warning signs of childhood cancer, screening protocols, referral pathways and management of suspected cases, with the aim of ensuring that every child, including those from remote and underserved areas, reaches appropriate care without delay.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Sudhakar Pandey, CMHO Rewa; Dr. J.K. Tiwari, RBSK Nodal Officer; and Dr. Satendra Mishra, NCD Nodal Officer, while the technical session was led by Dr. Gaurav Tripathi, Professor, Senior Pediatrician and Pediatric Oncologist, Shyam Shah Medical College.

CanKids also shared its holistic support model, including medical assistance, nutrition, education continuity, financial protection, psychosocial counselling, patient navigation and referral support.

The day concluded with a shared commitment from healthcare professionals and frontline functionaries to identify and refer every child with suspected cancer in time.

Because when childhood cancer is recognised early, referred quickly and treated on time, more children get the chance to survive and thrive.
