Giving birth is one of the most universal experiences in the world and midwives are fundamental to shaping it– and yet, often, both are not discussed widely.

That’s why this International Day of the Midwife, C3 is thrilled to present–in partnership with The White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood India–the debut of the Belly Button Initiative, an immersive exhibition that reimagines how we engage with the stories, science and realities of childbirth.

Curated by Dr. Kaveri Mayra, Midwife Researcher and Global Health Scientist, this exhibition will feature audiovisual installations, poetry, print works and unique participatory experiences, and will run only for a single day!

Join us on the day, and step into a multi-sensorial immersion into the experience of birthing, because care begins with understanding it from within.

For a future where every woman leads with dignity and confidence!

In a landmark step, C3 has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with RAJEEVIKA, Department of Rural Development, Government of Rajasthan, formalizing our partnership to strengthen women’s leadership and empowerment in the state.

Through this partnership, we aim to support the strengthening of Gender Resource Centers that will reach 50,000+ members of women’s self-help groups across Rajasthan, providing safe spaces for solidarity, skill-building, and support. These centers will empower women with leadership training, awareness on gender-based violence and discrimination, and access to institutional support—enabling them to participate actively in decision-making in their communities.

C3 is proud to take this next step in building gender-equitable communities in Rajasthan and creating opportunities for women to lead with confidence, voice, and dignity.

When women leaders take charge, they transform their communities, and pave the way for a brighter future.

This is what C3’s all new Shakti Dhara Initiative seeks to accomplish - leveraging the leadership of women Panchayat Mukhiyas (Panchayat Heads) in Bihar to enhance the financial agency, entrepreneurial skills, and self-reliance pathways of women at the community level.

At Shakti Dhara’s Women’s Leadership Camps in 3 districts of Bihar, women Mukhiyas came together to build their leadership skills, share their journeys, inspire one another, and ignite change in their Panchayats. Through aspiration mapping and self-sufficiency exercises, these camps empowered Mukhiyas to guide women in their communities toward financial independence, better health, and brighter futures. One Mukhiya expressed it best: "Shaktidhara has turned me into a dreamer for my village and a doer for my people."

For two decades, C3 has closely engaged with women Panchayat Leaders, equipping them to lead with impact and ensure lasting progress. Shakti Dhara reaffirms our commitment to strengthening the impact of women’s grassroots leadership, driving a future where women’s agency and independence take center stage, unlocking their full potential.
