GB Road exists in the heart of Delhi.

Most Indians have walked past it. Very few know what happens inside.

Geetanjali Babbar has spent years working on the ground with the women of GB Road as a social activist. And in this conversation, she shared the reality that most of India has chosen not to see.

Girls from villages lured with dreams of a better life. Trapped in a system they cannot escape. A network so deeply embedded in society that even families are involved.

The health crisis nobody talks about. The love stories that end in betrayal. The women who fought back. And the ones who couldn’t.

And the ancient India that once respected these women. Where Ganika had rights, dignity and a place in society. And how that word became a slur.

They are not criminals. They are survivors.

This is not a comfortable conversation. But it is a necessary one.

Cruelty against women doesn't always make headlines.

Sometimes, it happens behind closed doors. Sometimes, it becomes a part of everyday life. And sometimes, women are expected to live with it simply because they have been told they have no other choice.

At Kat-Katha, we believe every woman deserves more than survival. She deserves dignity, choice, safety and freedom.

For the last 15 years, Kat-Kalrav has been our way of celebrating that hope. A day when women and children come together, sing, dance, laugh and celebrate their identity and their dreams.

This year, we are taking Roshni Ki Raah through GB Road, carrying candles not in protest, but in prayer and hope.

Thank you Yogita Bhayana, Founder, PARI, for always standing up for women and using your voice when it matters.

A woman is more than the life she has been given. She is a daughter, a mother, a friend, a dreamer. She has hopes, choices and a right to a life of dignity.

Not in protest, but in prayer and hope.
