On May 7, 2026, the National Council of YMCAs of India held a solemn commissioning ceremony for its newly elected Office Bearers for the 2026–2029 tenure. Led by National President Justice Kurian Joseph (Retd.), the leadership team includes Vice-Presidents Mr. K.S. Prem Anand, Mr. T. Suman Thyagaraj, and Ms. Mahima T. Agrawal, alongside Treasurer Dr. Peter Wilson Prabhakar. The service focused on a renewed commitment to the underprivileged, inspired by a reflection on Amos 5:24 and a moving tribute to the visionary legacy of Sir George Williams by YMCA - Sir George William Education Institute students.

In his presidential address, Justice Kurian Joseph (Retd.) urged the assembly to "abhor evil and cling to good," emphasizing that youth must be given a primary seat at the leadership table rather than just being observers. The ceremony, which featured greetings from the Presidents of the New Delhi YMCA and YWCA Delhi, concluded with a symbolic "Faith in Action" tree planting. This act served as a powerful testament to the Council’s dedication to growth, sustainability, and the empowerment of the next generation over the coming triennium.

A great start to a Great Journey!!!

🚀 The Igniting Youth Futures virtual global kick-off last week was full of energy and shared purpose. YMCAs in Spain, South Africa and India are connecting underserved young people to Meaningful Work.

“This global launch transforms local action into a shared movement that supports young people now, while also shaping the futures they deserve, with the skills and pathways needed for decent work,” said World YMCA Secretary General Carlos Sanvee.

Through this project, we continue our mission of Meaningful Work by creating opportunities, building skills, and shaping stronger futures for young people across communities.

Together, we’re igniting purpose, growth, and transformation.

🌍🌏 Big news! We have launched Igniting Youth Futures (IYFutures) to connect underserved young people with Meaningful Work: fair, fulfilling jobs that support personal and community wellbeing.

🤝 With Accenture, the Accenture Foundation and the Macquarie Group Foundation, we began in June 2025 in India, South Africa and Spain.

🎯 We are working with global partners to empower 25,000 young people in three countries by 2028, with a goal of 100,000 by 2030.

✏️ A pencil sketch of YMCA founder George Williams, created by Mohammed Ubaid, a young participant in the New Delhi YMCA’s Social and Human Development (SHD) project, was unveiled on 21 June at the close of a one-month Summer Camp.

Mohammed is part of the SHD Community Development Centre in Savda Ghera near New Delhi, which supports young people from underserved communities.

The Uni-Y Regional Conference and Council 2025 was held from May 20 to 22 at the YMCA Camp Centre in Aluva, bringing together more than 95 enthusiastic youth delegates from across Kerala. The event was inaugurated by Hon. Mr. Justice Devan Ramachandran of the Kerala High Court and chaired by Mr. Labi George John, Uni-Y Regional Chairman.

Over three dynamic days, participants took part in a range of engaging sessions, including team discussions, self-defence training, and cultural activities. A major highlight was the launch of Uni-Y’s flagship anti-drug project, Yuvamukthi, inaugurated at the Aluva KSRTC bus terminal by Mr. Rishiraj Singh IPS. The project aims to build a drug-free world through awareness campaigns and one-on-one consultations in schools and colleges.

The conference also featured a session on career opportunities in the Indian Civil Services led by Mr. Tiju Thomas IRS, providing valuable guidance to aspiring youth. The event concluded with the election of the new Uni-Y Regional Executive Committee, setting the stage for another impactful year ahead.
