We work with artists to transform the lives of children, young people and women from marginalized communities in India.

Artreach India’s mission is to reach children and young people living in marginalised communities across India and transform their lives through art. We work with contemporary and traditional Indian and international artists and partner with NGOs, schools, foundations and museums. Our Teaching Fellowship funds artists to work with groups of young people in care who have a talent and passion for ar

t; in the Artroom they can explore opportunities, hone skill sets and work with mentors towards careers in the arts. We support long-term Community Projects and interventions, often in difficult or remote areas, where art is used to foster community cohesion. Our Khel Mel workshops bring marginalised and mainstream children together in an environment of creative learning. Our Volunteer Residencies result in lively murals painted by children in their homes and schools.

The beginning of this year was full of mural paintings for us. We had Anna and Lyla visiting us from the UK to lead a wonderful session focused on flowers. We began by bringing in many locally found flowers, with participants observing them closely and creating watercolour paintings in their little sketchbooks.
The children were inspired by Anna and Lyla's drawings from their visit to Delhi, and filled their sketchbooks with drawings from their own observations and imaginations.
The next day, all the flowers from their sketchbooks found a place on the central pillars of the common area of the care home. By the end of the day, the hall had transformed into a garden in full bloom.

Artreach's Director, Arti Malik was part of a panel at the Swiss Embassy for the book launch of Delhi Through Our Eyes, a book that celebrates the promise and possibilities as well as underlines the harshness of Delhi, with contributing artworks from artists from all around the world. Excited to have shared this space with organisations like Shakti Shalini and Salaam Baalak Trust (one of our long-standing partners) and to talk about the transformational power of the arts in care homes, shelter homes and communities in need. The proceeds from the sales of the book will benefit all three organisations.

Earlier this year, another Mural workshop happened with the diverse group of members from Mehrauli community library (MCL) on their outside wall and two shutter doors. It was a wonderful experience for them to share their feelings and thoughts, around the library space which they observe, witness and explore from their own perspective.

creativity works best in freedom"- following this comment from Timotiejus's observation, participants used colours, textures, lines to express their connection to the space they belong to - a joyful co-exist place they call their Library.

Intensive workshops are longer-duration formats (2–3 days) within the Teaching Fellowship, where participants either bring their year-long explorations to a close or take on more ambitious projects that require time, focus, and collaboration. As Abhinav’s fellowship draws to a close, he has envisioned the final intensive as a space for participants from Karm Marg to come together and create a large-scale collaborative canvas.

They are imagining and mapping a city of their own - placing their care home, Karm Marg, at its center - and building everything around it. A landscape where forests, mountains, rivers, and essential spaces like schools and hospitals coexist. Working in seven teams, each group has developed their own distinct geography, which is coming together on a single shared canvas. We are excited to see the final results!

Participants from the ongoing Artreach-KNMA Teaching Fellowship from Udayan care were so happy to visit Humayun's Tomb and Sunder Nursery. The group spent time exploring the history of these places, observing birds and plants, with games and conversation. They also made drawings, spent time on the swings, shared a meal on the lawns, and cooled off by briefly dipping their hands in the fountain water.

Over the course of the last year, teaching fellow Kapil has been working closely with this group, leading workshops that explore their dreams, what they would like to become; exploring urban architecture: where do they feel comfortable to walk, travel and live. They have also learnt tile-making using colourful patterns, among many other skills which are exciting and new for them.
Exposure visits like these are a vital part of the Teaching Fellowship, enabling participants to extend their art learning through direct engagement with new environments and experiences.

Happy World Art Day! 🌼 ❤️

Not everyone grows up with the space to make art, explore freely, and call it their own.

At Artreach, we work in the spaces where that gap is most felt. Over time, through sustained work alongside young people, we’ve watched them find their voice, question the world around them with deep engagement, and own their narratives.

Today we celebrate what art and art education quietly gives, and stay committed to making sure it reaches those with the least access to it.

We invite Delhi-based artist-educators to lead the Artreach-KNMA Teaching Fellowships in 2026-27. Participants of the ongoing Artreach-KNMA Teaching Fellowship from Prayas were so happy to visit the exhibition Grams Per Square Matter (GSM) and have a walkthrough with the artists from Common Ground Collective.

Our teaching fellow Damini Parashar has been working with this group, leading workshops around mask-making, printmaking, painting, and more. The group was excited to see the many ways in which the artists are engaging with materials, and to think through how these approaches can connect with their own processes and experiments in the workshops.

They also took part in a drawing activity, where they looked closely at artworks from the show and tried to emulate colours, patterns, and details they especially enjoyed observing.

We are super thankful to Damini, Pragya, Sasha and Deveshi who took the children around, and engaged with them in this walkthrough, and to Pulp Society for extending this space for the visit.

Open Call: Artreach-KNMA Teaching Fellowships 2026-27

We invite proposals from Delhi-based artists to lead Artreach-KNMA Teaching Fellowships between 2026-27; three selected artists will lead separate programmes through an engaging series of workshops, site visits, and end of programme exhibitions.

A continuation of the annual Teaching Fellowships running since 2015, this year’s programmes will take place with Rainbow Homes, Salaam Baalak Trust, and Udayan Care.

We are looking for artists with formal training in the arts, at least one year of teaching experience, some experience with under-resourced communities, and a sensitive, engaging approach to working with young people in care.

As part of the exhibition - 'Artroom ki duniya / आर्टरूम की दुनिया' opening on 4 April, we have a special workshop on ‘Puppet Making’ planned for artists-educators led by artist and animator Aditi Dixit/ . The workshop is designed for artists and educators to reflect on their teaching practices both within and beyond the classrooms using puppetry and storytelling.

Artreach India & Triveni Kala Sangam warmly invite you to 'Artroom ki duniya / आर्टरूम की दुनिया' - an exhibition of paintings, collages, books, masks, and more, created by young artists from Rainbow Homes, Salaam Baalak Trust, and Tara Homes on 4 & 5 April.

The exhibition is part of Artreach’s Artroom Programme (2025–26), and brings together the many worlds imagined, created, and shared in these workshops over the year.

Workshops were led by artists Abhinav Yagnik, Priyesh Gothwal, Surbhi Mittal, V. Aarti, Adheep Das, Upasana Mehndiratta, Smita Urmila Rajmane, and Bhagwati Prasad, and facilitated by Sonam Chaturvedi and Sameer from the Artreach team.
