In this reel, author of "The World after the West" (Die Welt nach dem Westen) Dr Daniel Marwecki reflects on what it means to think about global politics after the West, not as a clean break, but as a world shaped by adaptation, contestation, and uneven power shifts.

Drawing on history, political economy, and classroom debates from Hong Kong to Europe, he asks what multipolarity actually looks like when viewed from different parts of the world, and whether a post-Western order will be more just, more peaceful, or simply familiar in new forms.

The book is currently available only in German under the title "Die Welt nach dem Westen".

The year 2025 marks 15 years since the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung South Asia opened its doors in New Delhi, and 35 years of the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung worldwide. The Foundation, eponymous with Rosa Luxemburg, is closely linked to Die Linke, a democratic socialist party represented in the German parliament.

We have marked many milestones since our inception, navigating shifts that often echoed global political trends. As we observe this anniversary, we extend our gratitude to the partners we have worked with across South Asia. We also thank everyone who has been part of this journey — our audience, staff and Resident Representatives, past and present.

Our work continues. Our commitment remains with the oppressed and marginalised.

We leave you with Rosa Luxemburg’s words, written in a letter to Marta Rosenbaum: History itself always knows best what to do about things, even when the situation looks most desperate. I speak this word not as some sort of comfortable fatalism! Quite the opposite! The human will must be spurred on to the utmost, and it's necessary to fight consciously with all one's might.

Kerala’s eradication of extreme poverty is not a miracle but the outcome of a century of public action, redistribution, and democratic participation. Its model shows that committed politics, strong public institutions, and people-centred planning can transform living conditions — and that reducing inequality is a choice, not an inevitability.
