Our Founder and Mentor Mr. Amod K. Kanth was invited as a distinguished speaker at the Two-Day Training Programme on “Essentials of Child Protection” organised by the Centre for Child Rights (CCR), National Law University Odisha (NLUO), in collaboration with the Crime Against Women & Children Wing (CAW & CW), Odisha Police, held on 18th and 19th May 2026 at Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

The training programme brought together frontline cadre police personnel, District Special Juvenile Police Unit Heads, Child Friendly Police Station personnel, State Nodal Officers, CAW & CW Officers and IAHTUs to strengthen understanding and implementation of child protection laws and mechanisms.

Mr. Kanth delivered extensive sessions on the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, its practical application, the role of police personnel, and other key child protection legislations including the Prevention of Child Marriage Act, 2006 and the Child & Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 2016.

Drawing from decades of experience through Prayas JAC Society and its allied organisations, he shared insights on the evolution of the Juvenile Justice System, NCRB data on crimes against and by children, mechanisms for Children in Need of Care and Protection, the role of Child Welfare Committees, Mission Vatsalya, and the critical responsibilities of police personnel in ensuring child rights and protection.

The programme witnessed the participation of several eminent dignitaries including Prof. Biraj Swain, Prof. Dolly Jabbal, Smt. Shyni S, IPS, Shri Vinaytosh Mishra, IPS, and Dr. (Prof.) Kalpana Purushothaman, among others, who contributed valuable perspectives on child protection, law, mental health, and policing practices.

The sessions reflected the collective commitment towards building a stronger, more child-sensitive justice and protection system in the country.

The award was received by Executive Director Ms. Indu Rani Singh, who dedicated this recognition to all the co-workers of Prayas and expressed her heartfelt gratitude towards the President and Founder & Mentor of Prayas. Dweep Prayas Andaman has been consistently conducting awareness campaigns and outreach programmes on important social issues such as POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment), POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences), child safety, substance abuse prevention, mental well-being, and responsible social behaviour. These initiatives are designed to educate and sensitise not only school students and the general public, but also teachers, parents, government officials, community representatives, and other key stakeholders.

Sharing with you all a glimpse of the enriching industrial visit organized for the school children whom Prayas supports through its Gyan Kaushal Project, aimed at providing vocational training and skill development opportunities to school children.

The visit turned out to be an inspiring and highly impactful experience for the students, who gained valuable practical exposure and insights from the wonderful team at Holiday Inn Gurgaon. It was truly heartening to see the confidence, curiosity, and knowledge displayed by the children, which deeply impressed the team members as well.

On the occasion of Labour Day, a seminar on child labour was organised by the Labour Resources Department, Government of Bihar.

Mr. Amod K. Kanth, Amod K Kanth Founder & Mentor of Prayas, delivered a powerful address highlighting the scale, urgency, and complexity of child labour in India. Drawing from over 38 years of experience, he emphasized that child labour is deeply linked with poverty, lack of education, and human trafficking.

He called for accurate identification of vulnerable children, stronger implementation of laws, and better coordination across systems to ensure real impact.

The consultation on “Strengthening the Role of MSMEs in Generating Sustainable Employment for Skilled Youth in India,” organized by Prayas Juvenile Aid Centre Society and India Habitat Centre on 29 April 2026 in New Delhi, brought together policymakers, industry leaders, civil society, financial institutions, and development organizations including RBI, CCI, ILO, UNICEF, and leading startups.

The discussion focused on the critical role of MSMEs in bridging the gap between skilling and sustainable livelihoods. Speakers emphasized the need for stronger industry linkages, improved access to finance, better awareness of government schemes, and enhanced mentorship and branding to attract youth. Key challenges identified included gaps in skill alignment, credit access, apprenticeship opportunities, and outreach, particularly for women and rural youth.

Overall, the session highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts, practical support systems, and continued dialogue to strengthen inclusive and sustainable employment opportunities for skilled youth in India.
