It is everyone's right to live, for this is the most precious thing God has given to mankind. With almost 7 billion people across the globe, only 5% of eligible donors across the nation donate blood, but the number of transfusions nationwide increases by 9 percent every year. In the Philippines, there is currently a lack of blood in different blood banks, however the demand is currently increasing because of the dengue outbreak. We can help save lives by sharing and donating our blood to the dengue victims before it is too late. Donating blood is a safe process. A sterile needle is used only once for each donor and then discarded. Blood donation is a simple four-step process: registration, medical history and mini-physical, donation and refreshments. The actual blood donation typically takes less than 10-12 minutes. The entire process, from the time you arrive to the time you leave, takes about an hour and 15 min. Through this advocacy, the group aims to educate the public about the current need so as the health benefits of donating blood. -There are more than 38,000 blood donations that are needed everyday.
-More than 1 million new people are diagnosed with cancer each year. Many
of them will need blood, sometimes daily, during their chemotherapy treatment.
-A single car accident victim can require as many as 100 pints of blood.
-On average, a hip replacement typically uses one unit of blood, a cardiac bypass 2 units, a heart transplant 2 units, and a liver transplant 10 units
-The need for blood increases during holidays and summer months. People are more apt to be traveling and active during these times and thus are at an increased risk for accidents.

-Type O-negative blood (red cells) can be transfused to patients of all blood types. It is always in great demand and often in short supply.
-Type AB-positive plasma can be transfused to patients of all other blood types. AB plasma is also usually in short supply.

-Every blood donor is given a mini-physical, checking the donor's temperature, blood pressure, pulse and hemoglobin to ensure it is safe for the donor to give blood.

-A healthy donor may donate platelets as few as 7 days apart, but a maximum of 24 times a year.
