The Hon’ble Supreme Court has reinforced a critical principle in the fight against online child sexual abuse: social media intermediaries must be accountable for protecting children online.

Taking forward the implementation of its landmark 2024 Just Rights for Children judgment, the Supreme Court of India has issued notice to the Union of India through MeitY and the Ministry of Law and Justice on mandatory reporting of Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Material (CSEAM) by social media intermediaries.
The 2024 judgment marked a fundamental shift by recognising CSEAM for what it is: evidence of the sexual exploitation and abuse of a child. It also made clear that platforms cannot distance themselves from crimes against children occurring through their systems and must fulfil their obligations under Indian law.

A landmark judgment can protect children only when it is implemented in letter and spirit. Prevention by Design must be backed by legal accountability.

We remain committed to ensuring that every child is safe online and that technology serves as a tool for protection, not exploitation.

समय पर हस्तक्षेप और सामूहिक प्रयास से राजस्थान में पाँच बच्चों को बाल विवाह से बचाया गया। हर रोका गया बाल विवाह, #बालविवाहमुक्तभारत की ओर एक कदम है।
