Another Life Lost to Negligence: When Will We Learn?
A 25-year-old biker lost his life after falling into a DJB pit on Prof. Joginder Singh Marg near B3B Block, Janakpuri. This was not βjust another accident.β This was the result of dangerous, neglected infrastructure. The road had been in a pathetic condition for over a year, an open hazard that was simply waiting to claim a life. Tragically, it did.
Let this be said clearly: there should be no blame on the biker. A citizen using a public road has the right to expect it to be safe. Open pits, broken roads, poor lighting, and missing warnings are not minor oversight. They are serious failures of responsibility.
What makes this even more disturbing is that after he fell, it took hours for him to even be found. Hours. In a city, on a public road. This is not just negligence; this is a complete collapse of basic safety and emergency response. A young man lay unnoticed while the system that should protect citizens failed him at every level.
The blame game will follow a familiar script. For a few days, there will be outrage. A few officials may be suspended. Statements will be issued. And then, slowly, everything will be forgotten. Just recently, a similar tragedy in Noida shocked everyone, and yet nothing changed. Today it is Janakpuri. Tomorrow it could be somewhere else. The pattern remains the same.
The harsh truth is this: when human life is treated as less important than files, tenders, and excuses, such deaths become inevitable. This is not about bad luck. This is about negligence, accountability, and a system that repeatedly fails its people.
This was a completely preventable tragedy. May his soul rest in peace and God give strength to the family. ππ
