What happens when the conversation about breathing goes beyond the lungs?
At the 60th International Conference on Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (ICAAICON 2026) in Indore, held from 24–27 September 2026, clinicians, researchers and healthcare professionals came together around the theme “Breathe Better, Live Better.”
A key part of the conversation was the connection between air pollution, climate change and human health, with a focus on their impact on respiratory and overall health, particularly among vulnerable populations.
During the conference, Dr. Arvind Kumar, Founder & Managing Trustee, Lung Care Foundation, addressed a fundamental question: “Does Air Pollution Impact Health at All?”—bringing attention to the health impacts of air pollution.
Lung Care Foundation (LCF) and Doctors for Clean Air & Climate Action (DFCA) were part of ICAAICON 2026, with Dr. Salil Bhargava, Chairperson, Indore Forum for Clean Air & Climate Action, serving as the Organising Secretary.
The discussions brought together medical professionals, NGOs and public-health organisations, strengthening lung-health awareness, clean-air advocacy, preventive action and collaboration.
This helped increase the visibility and acknowledgement of the health effects of air pollution in public discourse, government policies and public-health curriculum, while strengthening the focus on the connection between environmental health and public health.
When the medical community comes together to discuss the air we breathe, it reinforces a simple truth:
Better air is part of better health.
