At OneStage, our journey began with a simple intention to understand India’s rich craft ecosystems directly from the artisans who keep them alive.

Recently, our team member Rupendra Tiwari explored the rich craft traditions of handloom weaving and terracotta art, gaining first-hand insights into artisan livelihoods.

This visit, rooted in our commitment to understanding the craft ecosystem, included meaningful interactions with national award winning terracotta artist Mr. Mukund Rana and expert Mr. Pradeep Mahapatra, who shared guidance on building effective Non-Farm Producer Organizations (OFPOs).

Conversations with Sambalpuri weavers further revealed challenges in distribution, marketing, and raw material access. These learnings help OneStage create stronger interventions that enhance visibility, resilience, and sustainable growth for craft communities.

In rural Odisha, mothers are the primary caregivers, balancing household responsibilities while raising their children, as fathers often work in nearby cities. Amidst these daily pressures, moments of frustration can sometimes lead to harsh discipline, often seen as the norm.

By empowering caregivers with resources, community support, and mental well-being initiatives, we can ensure every child grows up in a home filled with understanding, patience, and love.

How can we better support mothers in these communities and make our mothers better mothers.
