New Delhi 110054 The Council first started its work among children who had been displaced, lost or abandoned in the riots surrounding the Partition of India, providing them care. Over the decades, DCCW's programmes have grown and diversified to cover medical services, nutrition, vocational training, adoption, rehabilitation of physically and mentally differently-able children and the provision of day care and non-formal education to the underprivileged children of Delhi and the surrounding areas. Palna is our home for abandoned, homeless and destitute children. It is possibly the most well-known programme of DCCW. Established in 1978 and located in Qudsia Bagh, Old Delhi, it is a haven of peace, security and stability for the children who come here. DCCW is licensed to do both in-country and inter-country adoptions. The Adoption Programme at Palna began in 1978 and over the last three decades we have placed over 2800 children in loving families. From Palna in 1998 to a life she built with pride ❤️

In 1998, Arundati’s journey found a new chapter when she was adopted from Palna and welcomed into her family.

Years later, she has grown into a proud designer, pursued her education and built a career of her own. Today, Arundati lives in the UK and works in a bank, carrying with her the experiences, opportunities and values that have shaped her journey.

Her return to Palna is a beautiful full-circle moment — a chance to revisit the place that was once part of her childhood and to share how far life has taken her since.

This is Arundati.
A Palna child. A daughter. A designer. A professional.

At Palna, mornings are filled with curious little minds, tiny discoveries, playful chaos and plenty of giggles.

Every laugh, new step, shared toy and messy little moment in the Palna sunroom is part of childhood unfolding.

More than 100 children at Palna receive care, nourishment, protection and a safe environment where they can grow, learn and simply be children.

Because sometimes, letting children be children is enough.

A Small Task. A Meaningful Milestone.

What may look like a simple sorting or peg board activity can represent a much bigger step for a child.
When Aarushi joined Ek Prayas, she initially found it difficult to sit, sustain attention and follow commands.

With continued early intervention and structured activities, she is now able to follow instructions, sort objects and engage with pegboard activities while staying seated.
At DCCW’s Ek Prayas, Janakpuri Centre, children with special needs receive early intervention and developmental support tailored to their individual needs.
