What if the deepest expression of spirituality is compassion? Through the lens of yoga, Ahimsa, Aham Brahmasmi, and Bhakti, Shweta reflects on how our everyday choices can honour the interconnectedness of all life. Every meal, every ritual, and every decision offers an opportunity to live our values with greater compassion and intention.

When institutions evolve, their impact reaches far beyond the menu. Across India, OJW and its NGO partners are driving practical, culturally informed approaches that help schools and colleges respond to changing expectations around food, sustainability, and animal ethics. See how these efforts are taking shape in our latest blog article. Link in bio.

A plant forward life doesn’t have to come at the expense of your health, in fact long before nutrition became an industry, indigenous foods like moringa, millets, and sesame were sustaining communities across India. They are resilient, local, and affordable by design.

India has the highest number of undernourished people in the world, even as it remains one of the world's largest food and dairy producers. As both population and demand for animal-based food continue to rise, land and water that could nourish people directly are increasingly pulled towards animal agriculture instead. Feeding the future means asking harder questions about how we use what we already have.

This , before we celebrate planting more trees, let's pause and reflect. What's threatening our forests in the first place? As we celebrate the work already done, let's also ask what more needs to change.

The most effective outreach may not begin with the perfect argument. It may begin with patience and a better question.

Public conversations about animals can be unpredictable. People bring different beliefs, experiences, assumptions, and levels of openness. In those moments, effective advocacy is not simply about knowing more facts. It is about knowing how to listen, ask, connect, tell stories, challenge deeply held conditioning without attacking the person, and recognise where a conversation can move forward.

That was at the heart of our Trainings at OJW session with Ajay Kiradiya, Co-founder of Indore Animal Liberation, who drew from his on-ground experience to share practical lessons for beginner animal advocates. From asking more and telling less, to keeping animals at the centre of the conversation and ensuring each meaningful interaction has a next step, the session explored outreach as a skill that grows through reflection, practice, and learning alongside others.

🌱 And stay tuned for more capacity-building sessions designed to strengthen the skills, confidence, and effectiveness of advocates working for animals, people, and the planet.

Every image can move someone.

A photograph can do what a debate sometimes cannot. It can bypass resistance, language, and culture. A three-year-old and a ninety-year-old can encounter the same truth in the same frame.

For animal advocates, that makes photography more than documentation. It is a way to help people see an individual where they may have seen a statistic, feel a connection where words may have struggled, and enter a story they might otherwise have walked past.

But a powerful image is not only about expensive equipment. It is about learning to notice: the light, the emotion, the vantage point, the interaction, the one subject that gives a frame its meaning.

As part of Trainings at OJW, advertising photographer Gaurav Sawn joined animal advocates for a session on using mobile photography with greater intention.

Millions of cows and bulls like Gauri share the same fate across India.

When plastic is found inside a cow's stomach, it's often described as a waste management crisis. But that's only part of the story.

Many of these animals were once part of the dairy system. Once they are no longer considered economically useful, they are abandoned to fend for themselves on streets and garbage dumps, where survival means eating whatever they can find — including plastic.

The plastic in Gauri's stomach is not just a symptom of waste mismanagement. It is also a consequence of a food system that failed her long before she reached the street.

This Plastic Bag Free Day, let's rethink not only our waste, but also the systems that make survival on plastic seem normal.

Change doesn't spread evenly across a country as diverse as India. It grows locally.

That's why we're launching One Just World's first Cluster Changemakers Accelerator, in partnership with Thrive Philanthropy, and supported by Good Growth. ☘

Over the next 20 weeks, 10 youth-led groups across 10 regions will receive grants, mentorship, and hands-on support to build change across institutions.

This isn't another leadership programme. It's an implementation programme. 🐝

By the end of the accelerator, each cohort will have worked towards establishing APP Clubs, engaging colleges and local businesses, and demonstrating practical, locally relevant pathways towards more compassionate and sustainable food systems.

Because lasting change is built through ecosystems that make better choices easier, visible, and community-owned.

We're excited to share this journey with you. Stay tuned! ☘

Don't believe the dairytale — for as long as anyone can recall, the dairy industry has marketed the extraction of milk from cows, buffaloes, camels, sheep, and goats as normal, natural, necessary, and nice. 🥛🤔

In a nation of growing awareness and action against social injustice, may we ensure that every inhabitant of this planet is treated with dignity and respect — not reduced to yet another means of profit.

DON'T BELIEVE THE DAIRYTALE 🥛🤔
