Don't believe the dairytale — for as long as anyone can recall, the dairy industry has marketed the extraction of milk from cows, buffaloes, camels, sheep, and goats as normal, natural, necessary, and nice. 🥛🤔

In a nation of growing awareness and action against social injustice, may we ensure that every inhabitant of this planet is treated with dignity and respect — not reduced to yet another means of profit.

When conversations around climate and food systems emerge, beef is often scrutinised for its environmental impact. Its foundation, however, is discussed far less.

Over three weeks, more than 200 changemakers across 17 cities took a conveniently overlooked message into the media and public spaces: MILK AND BEEF START WITH THE SAME ANIMAL.

As media outlets across the country picked up the story, 86.91% explicitly mentioned the milk–beef link and 91.58% stated dairy's environmental impact, the changemakers succeeded in placing the overlooked narrative into mainstream public discourse, rather than having it diluted or omitted in reporting. The media consistently engaged with the campaign's core concern: that dairy is not environmentally neutral and deserves scrutiny alongside the beef sector.

Ideas shape public discourse. Public discourse shapes what becomes possible.

And this campaign ensured that a difficult but necessary conversation left its mark across parts of India.
