Peace Education Resource Centre, New Delhi (PERC)
(Formerly Known as Hague Appeal for Peace, Delhi University (HAP, DU) established 1998)
The Peace Education Resource Centre, Delhi (PERC) is a Peace Forum. It came into being as a result of the effort of the concerned students from University of Delhi endorsing “The Hague Agenda for Peace and Justice in the 21st Century”. HAP, DU was initially a
voluntary students’ body and is still run on voluntary based involvement and donations. Gradually many like-minded people from various fields joined the body and have led to the formation of Peace Education Resource Centre, New Delhi (PERC). The PERC members are from different areas of interest, communities and faiths from various parts of the country. PERC functions with Coordinator, Assistant Coordinator and core members. PERC commit to working on the main objective of promoting and building a culture of Peace through Peace Education. PERC believe that Peace Education is a participatory holistic process that includes teaching for and about democracy and human rights, nonviolence, social and economic justice, gender equality, environmental sustainability, disarmament, traditional peace practices, international law and human security. How we function
At this stage we act as a facilitator where we organize programmes such as workshops / seminar or talks. We also collaborate with other organizations or with University Departments in organizing the programmes. One of our key roles is identifying the resource person and making the programme happen. Past activities of PERC:
PERC have been actively involved in many activities since its inception in 1998. The members have also had the opportunity to participate in other peace programs organized by other organizations within Delhi and other states like Orissa, Shillong, Pune, Chandigarh, Manipur, Netherland among others. Numerous talks and seminars have been conducted under its wings, Such as:
