elderly in our country. Through our 'Student Action for Value Education' advocacy, we aim to inculcate children with morally correct values and ideals. To whomever reading this, helpage urges YOU to help spread our message to however many people you can. Be it through a mere poem, or an article, YOU can help thousands of people realize the severe austerity faced by the elders of our country. Social Abuse, Emotional Abuse, Economic Abuse... it is time we wipe aside these problems, and replace them with joy, and happiness. The elders of our country raised us, and made this country what it is now. It is time we give back, and let them know that we have not forgotten them.

As we move through life, we often discover that family can take many forms: in friendship, care, companionship, community and the people who continue to show up for us in quiet, meaningful ways.

This International Day of Families, we celebrate every bond that helps our elders feel seen, valued and at home.

On , we celebrate the power of innovation to transform lives. But true technological progress is meaningful only when it is inclusive. In India’s rapidly digitizing world, millions of elderly citizens still struggle to access essential online services, from digital payments and healthcare to communication and government benefits. According to our research, nearly 59% of senior citizens remain digitally excluded, highlighting a growing divide in an increasingly connected nation.

As India moves forward technologically, no one should be left behind. Bridging the digital divide requires not just access to technology, but patience, guidance, and intergenerational learning. Across the country, young volunteers are helping senior citizens build digital confidence — teaching them how to use smartphones, access online services, and stay safe in the digital world. These moments of learning are also moments of connection, strengthening bonds between generations while ensuring that technology becomes a tool for inclusion, independence, and dignity for all.

This Mother’s Day, our Senior Care Homes echoed with laughter, music, warmth and love as our beloved resident mothers celebrated alongside children, youngsters and well-wishers. ❤️🌸

These weren’t just celebrations — they were reminders that every mother deserves to feel seen, cherished and valued.

After a lifetime of caring for others, many elderly mothers are left longing for companionship, dignity and affection. Through every smile and shared moment, we hoped to remind our “Super Maas” that they are never forgotten. ✨

As we celebrate the miracle of motherhood today, let us also carry this spirit forward beyond a single day. Together create a world where no mother ever feels neglected, abandoned or unseen.

Mothers spend a lifetime caring for others. They shape our lives with patience, strength and quiet sacrifice.

But as years go by, often those who once nurtured us, now need nurturing themselves.
The people who once looked after everyone else, often find themselves needing care, support and companionship too.

Today, women form a large part of India’s ageing population. Many older women live alone, facing financial insecurity, social isolation, neglect and limited access to healthcare and support systems.
At HelpAge India, we work towards ensuring that elderly women, especially those who are vulnerable and disadvantaged, can age with dignity, care and respect.

This Mother’s Day, let’s take a moment to reflect not only on what our mothers gave us, but also on what we can give back.

Join us in building a world where every mother and grandmother feels seen, supported and valued.

Let’s do our bit - For Every Mother. For Every Grandmother … For Maa.

Quietly carrying our joys, our fears, our ways.

Motherhood is often felt more than it is seen. It lives in the smallest moments - a hand that steadies you, a voice that reassures you, a love that asks for nothing in return. So quiet, so constant, so deeply woven into our lives that we often forget to pause and truly acknowledge it.

And then, slowly, time changes things. The hands that once held everything together begin to need holding. The voice that once comforted waits to be heard.

Today, women over 60 are one of the fastest growing populations in the world and yet, they are among the most socially isolated. After a lifetime of caring for others, many are left hoping for the same care in return.

Take a moment to listen to these accomplished voices reflect on what mothers truly mean to us and the debt that calls not for words, but for action. Because this isn’t just about gratitude. It’s about responsibility.

This Mother’s Day, don’t just say it. Show up. Sit a little longer. Listen a little deeper. Hold her a little closer. And then, let that love travel beyond your own home to a mother who may be waiting for someone to care.

Motherhood is often expressed in everyday gestures – quiet sacrifices, constant care and love that asks for nothing in return. Yet, how often do we pause to acknowledge it?

As time passes, many mothers and grandmothers begin to face something they never prepared for – emotional distance, declining health and in many cases, a lack of support. After a lifetime of giving, they are left needing the very care they once provided so selflessly.

This is our moment to change that. This Mother’s Day, let’s celebrate the quiet strength and enduring love of mothers – the women who shape our lives with resilience, sacrifice and unwavering support.

Honour your mother not just with words, but with presence, empathy and action. Take a moment to tell her what she means to you. Celebrate her, cherish her and make her feel seen.

As spring slowly awakens in Ladakh, something beautiful is taking root - hands that have nurtured lives are now nurturing the earth once again.

In our Senior Care Home in Leh, elders and staff came together to prepare the soil, plant new beginnings and graft apple and apricot trees that will bloom in seasons to come. The joy of nurturing new life, and the quiet fulfilment of doing it together as a community, was evident on their faces.

On the eve of Buddha Purnima, it feels especially meaningful to pause and reflect on these words of the Buddha: “There is no path to happiness: happiness is the path.”

In every seed sown, in every moment shared, let's always remember, that happiness is not something we seek but something we create - together.

At a time when AI is rapidly reshaping how we see, hear and trust information, one group is being pushed into an increasingly complex and risky digital space - our senior citizens.

This timely article in The Telegraph by Mathures Paul brings this into sharp focus, with Sonali Sharma, Head - Communications, HelpAge India highlighting a critical reality: there is a significant gap in digital access, literacy and confidence - especially among older women - making them more vulnerable to AI-enabled scams.

The data revealed in HelpAge India's research report in 2025 is telling -

- 71% of elders use basic mobile phones
- Only 41% own smartphones
- Just 13% use computers, the Internet, or social media

And the gap widens further for women:

~60% of older women have never used a digital device
~Nearly 60% lack familiarity with smartphones or social media

This isn’t a new vulnerability. But in today’s AI-driven environment, it has become more urgent, more complex and far harder to detect. From deepfake voices to highly convincing impersonation, the line between real and fake is blurring fast, making conversations like this more relevant than ever.
