National Adventure Foundation (NAF) Our focus is on youth hailing from the rural and under privileged sections of society and the intellectually and physically challenged.

National Adventure Foundation (NAF) is a socially oriented Organisation dedicated to the promotion of adventure activities and sports as a growth and development oriented among the youth of the Country. The National Adventure Foundation (NAF) is a socially oriented organisation dedicated to the promotion of adventure activities and sports as a ‘growth and development oriented, positive, activity’ among the youth of the Country. NAF has the privilege of being accorded the status of ‘All India Organisation’ under the scheme for ‘National Programme for Youth and Adolescents Development (NPYAD)’, by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt of India. NAF draws satisfaction from the fact, that we serve a significant social purpose and in our own humble way contribute to nation building by way of helping the youth to develop their self-confidence, self-reliance, personality and character. NAF conducts adventure activities for youth belonging to weaker section of society and rural areas and the physically and intellectually challenged at no cost or at subsidized rates. Aim is to inculcate qualities of leadership and team building in them so that they become better citizens of the Country. NAF has gained and maintained a reputation in India as a highly respected youth development organisation providing a unique environment for youth development, where the focus of learning is on team-work, developing skills of communication, self-reliance, self-discipline, self-esteem, resilience, confidence and leadership. NAF has been conducting Adventure Training Programmes allotted by Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt of India for last 20 years all over India. The NAF executes its charter through its 38 Chapters (located all over the Country) and a number of affiliate adventure organisations.

*National Adventure Foundation India — Annual General Body Meeting 2026*

The National Adventure Foundation (NAF) India held its Annual General Body Meeting (AGM), along with the Directors’ and Executive Committee (EC) meetings, from 22–23 August 2026 at the International Youth Hostel, New Delhi. The two-day event was attended by NAF Chapter Directors and members from across the country, along with several distinguished personalities from the adventure community.

The Directors’ and Affiliate Meetings were held on 22 August. Chapter Directors made presentations and participated in discussions on key issues concerning NAF and its chapters, providing an opportunity to deliberate on challenges and explore ways forward. A number of decisions were taken for follow up action. The AGM on 23 August was well attended including by the Directors of the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM) and the Youth Hostels Association of India (YHAI), reflecting the shared interests and common objectives of organisations working in the fields of adventure, youth development and tourism.

This year’s AGM was further enriched by the presence of Mr Ranjit Singh Mangat and Mrs Smita Singh Mangat, grandchildren of NAF Founder Brig Gyan Singh.

As always, the highlight of the AGM was the presentation of the Brigadier Gyan Singh National Adventure Awards 2026 to Mr Taka Tamut, Arunachal Pradesh and Mr Manoj Kumar Sharma, Rajasthan. The NAF Achiever Awards were presented to Col Jangvir Lamba, the Ironman of India, and Ms Hetavi Vinay Shah, Open Water Marathon Swimmer. The NAF Essay Competition Awards 2026 were awarded to Ms Ragi Mishra, Jamshedpur, and Ms Chitra Panwar, Gurugram. All award recipients were presented with a memento, citation and cash prize by the President in recognition of their achievements and contribution to the spirit of adventure.

The two-day programme was a successful blend of formal deliberations, meaningful interaction and camaraderie, bringing together NAF members and prominent personalities from the world of adventure. It reaffirmed NAF’s continuing commitment to promoting adventure, exploration, youth development and a spirit of outdoor endeavour across India.

BRIEF ACHIVEMENTS

Background

1. Fourth generation Indian Army Officer. Former professional bodybuilder and National-level Bodybuilding judge with the Indian Body Builders Federation, transitioning later to elite endurance sports.

Triathlon & Ultramarathon Milestones

2. Ironman Triathlon (Toughest one day event in the World).

2.1. Ironman 70.3 miles, Goa (Nov 2022) - Half-distance Ironman Triathlon.

2.2. Asia-Pacific Championship of Ironman Triathlon (140.6 miles) Cairns, Australia (June 2023) - finished the full 140.6 miles triathlon in 15 hr 24 min, competing solo as the only Indian amongst over 1,500 athletes.

2.3. Ironman 'Triathlon (140.6 miles) Langkawi, Malaysia (Oct 2023) - finished the full 140.6 miles triathlon in 16 hr 41 min.

2.4. Ironman Triathlon (140.6 miles) Penghu, Taiwan (Apr 2025) - at age 53 in the 50-54 category, finished the grueling triathlon in 14 hr 53 min, further cementing his status as an elite endurance athlete.

2.5. As on date, I am 2nd fastest Ironman Triathlete in my age group in the country.

3. The Legendary Marathon des Sables - Moroccan Sahara (Apr 2024). (The Toughest Foot Race on the Planet)

3.1. Completed the legendary 252 km multi-stage ultra-marathon over six days through the Sahara Desert in 67 hours & 7 minutes, often dubbed as the "Toughest Foot Race on Earth".

3.2. Carried 15 kg survival pack, endured blistering heat up to 50° - 53°C, traversed across dunes, rocky jebels and salt plains, drawing upon his bodybuilding and triathlon experience to persevere.

3.3. I am the 7th Indian and 1st serving Indian Defence Officer to complete The Legendary Marathon des Sables.
