IGSSS - www.igsss.org

Deprivation, Violence, Degradation, Exploitation, Humiliation, Migration, Hopelessness - Poverty is known by a million names. Throughout the centuries and in every society, individuals and families who experience extreme poverty have been isolated, indeed abandoned. Material deprivation reduces them to mere survival; insecurity causes families to break up; exploitation robs people of their potential; humiliation, exclusion and contempt reach a point at which people living in extreme poverty are not recognised as human beings. This injustice must end. For over five decades, IGSSS is committed to empowering millions of families to overcome abject poverty and to help them lead a life of freedom and dignity.

We are a 57 year old national development organization working for development, capacity building and empowerment of the poorest and most vulnerable communities across the country through our programmes on Sustainable Livelihood, Disaster Risk Reduction, Urban Poverty Reduction, Gender Equity and Youth Development.

Our presence is in 22 states across 83 districts in 90 blocks and we reach out about 1 lakh marginalized families.
