Nirantar Trust is a New Delhi-based organisation that works towards empowering women through education—by enabling access to information, promoting literacy and engendering education processes. We achieve this through direct field interventions, creating educational resources, research and advocacy, and training. We’re thrilled to have received an overwhelming response to Looking In Looking Out 2026, a five-day residential serai on sexuality, pleasure, and danger. Rather than seeking neat resolutions, the gathering creates a space where ambiguity, vulnerability, and unfinished thought are held together.

अग्रिमा फ़ेलोशिप के सफ़र को एक साल पूरा हो गया है। पिछले एक साल से हम हाशियकृत समुदायों से आने वाले फेलोज़ के साथ मिलकर उनकी नारीवादी नेतृत्व की यात्रा को मज़बूत कर रहे हैं। यह फ़ेलोस दिल्ली, बिहार और असम के अलग-अलग इलाकों से है। इस महीने हम दिल्ली में हमारी तीसरी आवासीय कार्यशाला के लिए मिले। यह कार्यशाला बीते एक साल के अनुभवों को साथ मिलकर देखने, उन पर ठहरकर सोचने और फेलोज़ के बीच बने भरोसे, दोस्ती और साथ को और गहरा करने का अच्छा मौका रहा।

कार्यशाला की सत्र को हमने फ़ेलोस के अपने ज़िंदगी और अनुभव से जोड़ कर प्लान किया, और सत्र के मुद्दों को नारीवादी नज़रिये से कैसे देखा जाए इस पर बात की। हमारे सत्रों में हमने स्वास्थ्य, शिक्षा और सुरक्षा को नारीवादी नज़रिये से देखा। हमने मीडिया और सूचना साक्षरता पर एक ढाँचागत तरीके से बात की, और सिर्फ एक उपभोगता के रूप में सीमित नहीं रहे। इन सत्रों में हमने ऐसे सवालों पर चर्चा की जो हमारे फ़ेलोस और उनके समुदायों की रोज़मर्रा की ज़िंदगी से जुड़े हैं। फेलोज़ ने अपने-अपने काम की पहल को भी साझा किया। इस दौरान सीख सिर्फ़ एक तरफा नहीं रही, बल्कि हर साथी अपने अनुभवों के साथ पूरे समूह के लिए सीख का एक ज़रिया बना।

एक पूरा दिन हमने अलग-अलग लर्निंग सेंटर पर एक्सपोज़र विज़िट के लिए रखा, ताकि फ़ेलोस अपने जैसे और युवा लीडर्स से मिल पाए। फेलोज़ ने दिल्ली में निरंतर के शिक्षा केंद्र पेस (परवाज़ एडोलेसेंट सेंटर फ़ॉर एजुकेशन) और तरंग सेंटर विज़िट किए, जहाँ किशोर लड़के-लड़कियों के साथ काम होता है। उन्होंने अंकुर संस्था भी विज़िट किया, जो किशोरियों और लड़कियों के साथ शिक्षा और कहानी लिखने और सुनाने (स्टोरीटेलिंग) पर काम करती है। दोनों जगहों पर युवा साथियों से हुई मुलाक़ातों ने उन्हें प्रेरित किया हैं, और अपने काम के लिए कई नई सीखें वे अपने साथ लेकर गए।

कार्यशाला का समापन इस सवाल के साथ हुआ कि जिन प्रोजेक्ट्स पर वे काम कर रहे हैं, उनकी आगे की दिशा क्या होगी, और आने वाले समय में वे अपने काम को और आगे कैसे बढ़ाए।

As we begin the Digital and Financial Inclusion initiative in Supaul and Madhepura districts of Bihar, we are bringing together the strengths of three organisations - Nirantar, Manav Vikas Sansthan Khairi and Gyan Seva Bharti Sansthan.

While Nirantar provides technical support on adult literacy and women's financial inclusion, our partner organisations aim to bring invaluable local knowledge and years of community engagement.

With this initiative, we hope to create learning spaces where rural women from marginalised communities can strengthen their literacy, navigate financial systems with confidence, and build greater agency over their lives.

बिहार के सुपौल और मधेपुरा जिलों में डिजिटल और वित्तीय समावेशन की नई पहल के साथ, निरंतर, मानव विकास संस्थान खैरी और ज्ञान सेवा भारती संस्थान मिलकर एक साझा सफ़र की शुरुआत कर रहे हैं।

इस पहल में निरंतर, वयस्क साक्षरता और महिलाओं के वित्तीय समावेशन पर अपना अनुभव और सहयोग लेकर आएगा। वहीं, हमारी साझेदार संस्थाएँ अपने स्थानीय अनुभव और समुदायों के साथ वर्षों से बने भरोसे को इस पहल की मज़बूती बनाएँगी।

हमारी कोशिश है कि गाँवों की हाशिए पर रहने वाली महिलाओं के लिए ऐसे सीखने के केंद्र बनें, जहाँ वे पढ़ना-लिखना सीखें, डिजिटल और वित्तीय दुनिया को अपने आत्मविश्वास के साथ समझें, और अपने जीवन से जुड़े फैसलों में अपनी भागीदारी को और मज़बूत करें।

महिलाओं का अपने नाम से बैंक खाता होना एक शुरुआत है।
लेकिन असल में बदलाव तो तब होता है, जब वे अपने पैसों तक खुद पहुँच बना सकें, उन्हें समझ सकें और उनसे जुड़े फैसले खुद ले सकें।

इसी सोच के साथ हम बिहार के सुपौल और मधेपुरा जिलों में महिलाओं के साथ एक नई यात्रा की शुरुआत कर रहे हैं। एक ऐसी यात्रा, जहाँ बेसिक साक्षरता, डिजिटल साक्षरता और वित्तीय साक्षरता मिलकर महिलाओं का आत्मविश्वास बढ़ाएँगी और उन्हें अपने वित्तीय फैसले खुद लेने में सक्षम बनाएँगी।

Tata Trusts के सहयोग से, मानव विकास संस्थान खैरी और ज्ञान सेवा भारती संस्थान के साथ मिलकर शुरू की जा रही यह पहल इस विश्वास पर आधारित है कि जब महिलाओं के पास सही जानकारी, सीखने का अवसर और आत्मविश्वास होता है, तो उनके लिए नए रास्ते खुलते हैं।

1300+ Applications | 15 Fellows | One Shared Journey

At Nirantar, we envision the Jeevat Fellowship as a journey of feminist leadership rooted in feminist ideas of education. The fellowship encourages fellows to critically engage with questions of power, identity, and social change, while creating meaningful impact within their communities.
We are elated to begin this journey once again.

This year, we received 1300+ applications from 10 different states. Each application brought with it a unique story, a desire to learn, and a commitment to creating change. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who applied and shared their experiences and aspirations with us.

After a thoughtful selection process and conversations with shortlisted applicants, 15 fellows from 9 different states have joined the second cohort of the Jeevat Fellowship.

We are excited to introduce these 15 fellows, whose journey with us has already begun through an online orientation held in the first week of June.
As we embark on this shared journey of learning, reflection, and collective growth, we look forward to learning from one another and building stronger pathways for change together.

1300+ आवेदन | 15 फ़ेलोस | एक साझा सफ़र 

निरंतर में, हम जीवट फ़ेलोशिप को नारीवादी नेतृत्व की एक ऐसी यात्रा के रूप में देखते हैं, जो शिक्षा के नारीवादी विचारों पर आधारित है। यह फ़ेलोस को सत्ता, पहचान और सामाजिक बदलाव से जुड़े सवालों पर सोचने, सीखने और अपने समुदायों में बदलाव लाने के लिए प्रेरित करती है। हमें खुशी है कि हम एक बार फिर इस सफ़र की शुरुआत कर रहे हैं।

इस साल हमें 1300+ आवेदन, 10 अलग-अलग राज्यों से प्राप्त हुए। हर आवेदन अपने साथ एक अनोखी कहानी, सीखने-सिखाने की इच्छा और बदलाव की एक नई संभावना लेकर आया। आवेदन करने वाले सभी साथियों का हम दिल से धन्यवाद करते हैं, अपनी कहानियाँ हमारे साथ साझा करने के लिए। 

सोच-समझकर की गई चयन प्रक्रिया और साथियों से हुई बातचीत के बाद, इस बार हमारे साथ  9 अलग-अलग राज्यों से कुल 15 फ़ेलोस जुड़ रहे हैं। हमें खुशी है कि आज हम आपको उन 15 नए फेलोज़ से मिलवा रहे हैं जिनका सफ़र हमारे साथ जून के पहले सप्ताह में हुए एक ऑनलाइन ओरिएंटेशन के साथ शुरू हो चुका है। सीखने-सिखाने और साथ मिलकर आगे बढ़ने की इस यात्रा के लिए हम उत्साहित हैं।

For more than thirty years, Nirantar has been making space for stories that don't as often make it into the spaces where knowledge is shared or made accessible — about gender, sexuality, identity, desire, and what it means to live as yourself.

This Pride month, we are sharing some of what we have made: picture stories, magazines, films, and illustrated narratives, for and with communities that deserve to see themselves. 🌈

As part of the campaign, in collaboration with and the Non-Traditional Livelihoods Network (NTLN), we are sharing a series of reflections from Nirantarees (as we call our colleagues at Nirantar).

Drawing from personal experiences, field realities, and years of engagement with young people, women, girls, communities, and schools across diverse contexts, these writings invite us to think more deeply about care work and domestic labour.

Through different voices, perspectives, and forms of writing, they explore how household work is shaped by gender, power, recognition, and responsibility, and why making this labour visible remains an important feminist concern.

Do give it a read and we hope to open up conversations on the work that sustains our lives, yet so often remains unseen.
