Recognising mental health issues is the first step towards getting the right support.

Changes in mood, persistent stress, feeling overwhelmed, withdrawal from daily activities, or difficulty coping with everyday life can all be signs that someone may need help. Paying attention to these signals in ourselves or in others can make a meaningful difference.

Seeking support is not a weakness; it is a step towards care, understanding, and healing.

Television is one of the most powerful sources of information and entertainment in India. It must be accessible to everyone.

At Doordarshan Bhawan, New Delhi, NAB Meerut actively contributed to national-level discussions on developing structured accessibility standards for television programmes. The focus was clear ensuring equal access for both hearing and visually impaired viewers.

Key conversations centred around the phased implementation of accessibility standards, particularly the urgent need to formalise guidelines for visually impaired audiences. Discussions included categorising content into live, recorded, pre-recorded, and outsourced formats, and beginning with recorded and new content by integrating audio description.

The Director General of Doordarshan highlighted ongoing consultations with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the legal importance of finalising these standards.

Representing NAB Meerut, Ms. Poonam Tyagi emphasised that accessibility mechanisms must move from discussion to implementation. She reinforced that trained manpower already exists, and structured, step-by-step ex*****on is both practical and achievable.

NAB Meerut remains committed to working with national broadcasters and policymakers to ensure inclusive media becomes the standard.

What is the difference between general psychology and clinical psychology?

Watch the video to understand the difference between the two and why it matters.

Understanding this difference helps us recognise when knowledge becomes support and when support becomes care.

This clip is taken from our webinar on clinical psychology, where we discussed mental health with a special focus on the visually impaired community.

Happy Women’s Day 🌸

Today we celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women everywhere. But it is also a moment to recognise the journeys of visually impaired women, whose challenges are often unseen.

At NAB Meerut, we meet many young women who refuse to let disability define their dreams. Stories like Prakriti Gupta’s are inspiring, but she is not alone. There are many more girls like her who are learning new skills, building confidence, and working towards independent and meaningful lives.

This Women’s Day, we celebrate every visually impaired woman who continues to move forward with courage and determination.

How do you know it’s the right time to see a therapist?

That was the simple but important question explored in our recent webinar on Clinical Psychology.

The session was led by Tamrina Matta, India’s first clinical psychologist specialising in working with people with visual impairment. A counselling psychologist based in Amritsar, she works with adolescents and adults using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Rehabilitation Psychology from the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities.

She spoke about emotional overwhelm, ongoing stress, feeling stuck, and why reaching out for support is not weakness but a healthy, proactive step.

The conversation was a reminder that mental health care must be accessible, inclusive, and free from hesitation for everyone.

More such meaningful sessions are on the way. Stay connected with NAB Meerut.

For a visually impaired person, a computer speaks.

With the help of screen readers and simple keyboard commands, every menu, word, and action on a PC becomes accessible. These tools turn technology into independence, enabling learning, work, and confidence.

At NAB Meerut, we focus on teaching skills that open doors, one command at a time.

On 26th January, NAB Meerut marked Republic Day by inaugurating one of our first computer learning centres for the visually impaired under .

This centre represents more than infrastructure. It represents access, to digital skills, independence, confidence, and opportunity. Watching students explore computers with curiosity and excitement reminded us why this work matters.

With collaborations like Computer Shiksha, we aim to take this initiative across India, opening more centres and empowering many more lives.

This was not just a celebration of the day, it was a commitment to learning, inclusion, and a future where every student can connect, create, and thrive.

Glaucoma often develops silently, without early symptoms and by the time vision changes are noticed, damage may already be done.

Regular eye check-ups, including eye pressure tests and visual field exams, help detect glaucoma early and protect remaining sight. This is especially important for people over 40, and those with a family history, diabetes, or high blood pressure.

If you notice blurred vision, loss of side vision, halos around lights, or sudden eye pain, seek medical care immediately.

Early detection can save sight. Awareness can prevent vision loss.

Glaucoma is an eye condition that damages the optic nerve and can lead to permanent vision loss if left untreated. It often develops slowly and without early warning signs, which is why it’s known as the silent thief of sight.

Common symptoms may include blurred vision, eye pain, headaches, halos around lights, or gradual loss of side vision, though many people notice nothing at all in the early stages.

This Glaucoma Awareness Month, buildings and institutions across the world are illuminated in green, the symbol colour of glaucoma, to remind us of the importance of regular eye check-ups.

Early diagnosis can save vision. Awareness can save lives.

Virat comes from a small village, but his world is wide open as he reads English and studies confidently through Braille.
A student of an inclusive village school, he enjoys his self study Braille book reading sessions at home, building knowledge and independence every day.
This freedom to read and learn is possible because of Louis Braille, whose invention gave blind people a written language of their own.
On Louis Braille Day, 4th January, we honor his vision that turned dots into a doorway of education, dignity, and opportunity.
Even as NAB Meerut works to expand technology and digital accessibility, the importance of the Braille language remains undeniable for every blind person.
Braille continues to be the foundation of true literacy, privacy, and lifelong independence.
