What Pride Month looks like beyond the month itself is activists showing up to hearings, filing petitions, waiting on verdicts, and refusing to let institutions ignore them. Nepal's LGBTQ+ community did all of that for three years, and on June 18, 2026, the Supreme Court ruled in their favour on equal marriage. The world is a little more equal today than it was last month.

During Pride Month, this case is a reminder that legal protections on paper do not always translate into protection in practice. The HIV and AIDS (Prevention and Control) Act, 2017 explicitly prohibits the disclosure of a person's HIV status without consent. Yet an Indian man alleges that police handed that information to the media while he was in custody, setting off a chain of consequences that cost him his school, his livelihood, and his place in his community. The fight for dignity and equal rights for LGBTQ+ people is far from over, not just in India but across the world.

The SC on June 15th, 2026 has issued an interim stay on all High Court proceedings challenging the Transgender persons Amendment Act, 2026. The Court is examining whether the cases should be consolidated to ensure a uniform adjudication process. The constitutional challenges remain pending.

Q***r and trans communities have always cared for each other through friendship, crisis, uncertainty, joy, grief, and survival. The Community Wellbeing Project (CWP) builds on this legacy of community care by training LGBTQIA+ individuals to become Peer Support Providers (PSPs).

This 12-month virtual training and guided practice program is rooted in empathy, lived experience, and collective wellbeing. Through training, supervision, and real-world practice, participants will learn how to offer structured one-on-one emotional support to q***r and trans community members navigating distress, isolation, identity struggles, and everyday challenges.

- Fully virtual
- Open to LGBTQIA+ individuals across South Asian countries.
