Baby Walnut was rescued from the iron bridge (Shastri Park) in the Delhi floods earlier this month. When we found her she had been starving and eating trash, was severely dehydrated and needed several days of intensive care.

Fast forward to today and she has a clean bill of health, has started her vaccines, is dewormed, and a voracious eater! She's got the sweetest temperament, loves cuddles and is extremely talkative too.

She is litter trained and has never had any accidents outside her litter box.

She's about 12 weeks old and would be available to adopt as a single kitten or preferably as a companion to another cat.

Finally a statement by the statement and a clear directive for protection for community animal caregivers:

“Harassing, threatening, obstructing or preventing any person from responsibly feeding
community dogs, particularly women, senior citizens or community caregivers, is a serious
offence. Any person/organization engaging in such acts shall be liable for strict legal action.”

MEDICAL FUNDRAISER 🩺 for Walnut 🥺

I wish I could introduce Walnut to you in a better way than this. On Sunday, .chouhan reported to us a kitten from the Loha pul flooding situation in Shastri Park. She was found alone, struggling to survive and with "weird noises coming out of her". At that point, I thought she was probably congested from being in the water and may have aspiration pneumonia. Unfortunately, after we moved her to a foster on Sunday evening, we very quickly realized that things were far worse for little Walnut. She's been foraging on trash and whole coconuts etc that have choked up her entire system.

Despite multiple trips to the vet, X-rays and drips, she's only able to pass these coconut pieces and other trash slowly via vomiting. She isn't able to eat because she's in so much discomfort. Her body is very tired right now so even her movement is laboured. The vets have said she may need surgery to clear her insides but she's so frail right now that even that comes with a risk.

We have been consulting with Dr Vijaydeep at Crown Vets and also have an appointment with Dr Brijesh should things worsen and she needs admission tonight.

We need to raise urgently at least 30,000 INR ($350) for little Walnut.

We got together at the Indian High Commission in London, United Kingdom YET AGAIN demanding better protection for our community dogs as well as their caregivers.

The order passed by the Supreme Court has enabled so many violent attacks on the dogs as well as those who care for them. These caregivers are the only people upholding the ABC Rules (2023), spending their own time and money to vaccinate and sterilise these dogs yet they are being met with aggression and abuse from anti-social attackers who hate the existence of dogs.

We came together to ask for clear protection for our community - human and canine.

India, so better.

World Rabies Day is on 28th September and this September, we would like to vaccinate 2,000 dogs with their rabies vaccines.

We are once again uniting on the streets for our Indian community dogs and caregivers.

As we know, international pressure needs to continue in the matter. The recent hearing stayed the 11th August order to remove all street dogs and instead reinforced the ABC (Animal Birth Control) 2023 Rules. However, some of the new directives regarding feeding and the removal of "aggressive" dogs have left room for a lot of miscreants who are intolerant to the existence of these dogs to misuse these directives and unleash all sorts of aggression on both the dogs and their caregivers.

There is expected another hearing in October regarding the matter and we ask for more protection for our dogs as well as their caregivers. We also ask for audits of the MCD centers and greater accountability for all civic bodies that have large budgets allocated to them for sterilisations, which they are usurping due to rampant corruption.
