We are pleased to share that SCMS has received a work order from Skills & Education on 20th February 2026 to conduct skill development training programs in Mine Electrician and Mine Welder trades at Sarguja, Chhattisgarh.

The training for the Mine Electrician trade has already commenced at the Adani Skill Development Centre (SAKSHAM), marking an important step towards empowering local youth with industry-relevant skills.

This initiative reflects our continued commitment to strengthening the mining workforce through quality training and skill development.

100-Tonne Dumper Operator Training Programme for Women

Skill Council for Mining Sector (SCMS), in partnership with Essel Mining and Industries Limited (EMIL), launched โ€œเคนเคฎเคพเคฐเฅ€ เค†เคฆเคฟเคฐเคพโ€ - a 100-tonne Dumper Operator Training Programme exclusively for women - at Waidhan, Madhya Pradesh, on 14 January 2026.

Even in its early days, the programme represents a powerful step toward transforming the future of the mining workforce.

The name โ€œเค†เคฆเคฟเคฐเคพโ€ symbolizes strength, power, and majesty.

The trainees come from Jharkhand, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal - different regions, yet united by determination, resilience, and ambition.

Through เคนเคฎเคพเคฐเฅ€ เค†เคฆเคฟเคฐเคพ, EMIL and SCMS reaffirm their shared vision:

A mining industry that is skilled, inclusive, and empowered by women.

Representatives from the Skill Council for Mining Sector participated in a Capacity Building and Awareness Workshop for Awarding Bodies, organized by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), MSDE, Government of India and Training under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, India, Government of India, on 7th April 2026 at Kaushal Bhawan.

The event commenced with an inaugural session by Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Hon'ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, Government of India

The workshop opened with welcome remarks and context-setting by Debashree Mukherjee , Secretary, MSDE & Chairperson, NCVET. Key discussions during the workshop focused on strengthening NSQF alignment and its implementation, as well as the digital integration of platforms such as the Kaushal Verse Portal, SIDH Portal, and the Academic Bank of Credit. Additionally, a dedicated session addressed the training, assessment, and monitoring of awarding body operations.

SCMS participated in the Managing Committee Meeting of the Federation of Indian Mineral Industries (FIMI) held on 2nd April 2026 at FIMI House.

Mr. Navneet Kumar, Chief Operating Officer and Officiating Chief Executive Officer, represented the Skill Council for Mining Sector (SCMS) and delivered a brief presentation highlighting key activities and achievements of the last quarter. The presentation was well-received and appreciated by the members of the FIMI Managing Committee.

On 10 December 2025, Skill Council for Mining Sector (SCMS) and Thriveni EarthMovers Pvt.Ltd formally signed a MoU to strengthen their collaboration in skill development and training initiatives, under which a Centre of Excellence (COE) was established.

Under this partnership, a 2+1 day RPL NSQF-aligned training program was conducted for the existing workforce of Thriveni Earthmovers & Infra Pvt. Ltd.. The first batch of Dumper Tipper Operator training at the COE was successfully completed on 14 March 2026.

The training sessions were delivered by SCMS-certified trainers - Thanigaipathi Shanmugam and Ajit Pandey, who were certified through the Training of Trainers (ToT) program organized by the Skill Council for Mining Sector from 10โ€“19 September 2025.

We are delighted to share that Ms. Ahuti Swain, Director (HR) (Retd.), Eastern Coalfields Limited (a subsidiary of Coal India Limited) has joined SCMS as Honorary Advisor โ€“ Eastern Zone.

Mr. Pankaj Kumar Satija, Chairman-SCMS and Executive Vice President, JSW Group, welcomed her during the 50th Governing Board Meeting. Ms. Swain presented her authored book 'Sweat and Glory- The Rise of Eastern Coalfields' to the Chairman and Mr. Navneet Kumar, COO & Officiating CEO, SCMS.

Ms. Swain has served as Director (HR) on the Board of Eastern Coalfields Limited, where she played a pivotal role in strengthening human resource management, industrial relations, and employee welfare initiatives. Over a span of more than 35 years, she held several senior HR leadership roles across subsidiaries of Coal India Limited like Central Coalfields Ltd., Bharat Coking Coal Ltd. and Eastern Coalfields Ltd.

With over three decades of rich experience in personnel management in the coal and mining sector, she brings deep domain expertise, strategic leadership, and administrative excellence.

The 50th Governing Board Meeting of the Skill Council for Mining Sector (SCMS) was successfully convened on 27th February 2026 in hybrid mode at the Office of SCMS, New Delhi.

The meeting was chaired by Dr Pankaj Satija , Chairman - SCMS and Executive Vice President โ€“ Corporate Affairs, JSW Group

During the proceedings, Shri Navneet Kumar, COO & Officiating CEO, SCMS, delivered an insightful presentation highlighting:
โžก๏ธ Recent achievements of SCMS.
โžก๏ธ Ongoing initiatives and future plans.
โžก๏ธ Key challenges and areas requiring collective support from Governing Board Members and the mining industry.
โžก๏ธ Proposed Budget for FY 2026โ€“27, which was presented for review and approval.
