WTE: (Waste-to-Energy) during the process of burning waste, the heat evolved is utilized in a boiler for generating steam and then electricity through turbine. Incineration: It is a process of burning waste in a furnace with the help of diesel/gases as fuel under controlled conditions. Okhla: The Location is near to Sewerage Disposal Plant in Okhla, New Delhi. The MSW WTE Okhla is a coming up plant to burn 2,050 MT of Solid Waste in between Sarita Vihar and Sukhdev Vihar. It is in proximity of various Okhla colonies and renowned south Delhi hospitals, namely: Apollo, Fortis-Escorts and Holy Family. tall chimney will emit TOXIC smoke 24 hous a day, that will engulf population under 5 Km radius. The plant is said to be in violation of Supreme Court order. Residents of the Sukhdev Vihar and adjoining areas have launched a campaign for removal of Demon-BMW and MSW WTE Okhla incineration plants.
