The Supreme Court’s recent order on stray dogs brings both relief and responsibility. The Court has mandated that they be dewormed, vaccinated, and returned to their original areas. This is a step that upholds compassion while ensuring public health and safety.

At the same time, AJF voices concern about the penalties imposed on animal lovers and NGOs who wish to intervene legally. Grassroots organizations and individuals working tirelessly for animal welfare should be supported.

Feeding restrictions and limitations on dedicated spaces also raise questions on the humane treatment of strays. Public responsibility, awareness, and cooperative action are key to creating a society where both people and animals coexist peacefully.

AJF stands firm in its commitment to amplify the voices of the voiceless. We urge for balanced policies that combine animal rights, civic responsibility, and human compassion without curbing the efforts of welfare organizations.

The Asian Journalist Federation (AJF) strongly condemns the recent Supreme Court order mandating the mass removal of all stray dogs from the streets of Delhi-NCR.

This directive, which strips voiceless beings of their right to live freely in their own communities, stands in direct violation of humane and scientifically proven Animal Birth Control (ABC) protocols. Decades of progress in animal welfare, sterilization, and vaccination programs risk being undone replaced instead by an approach that is inhumane, impractical, and deeply regressive.

Stray dogs are not a nuisance to be “removed” they are sentient lives, a part of our shared ecosystem. The AJF stands in solidarity with animal rights groups, activists, and citizens who oppose this move and demand an immediate review of the order.

Public safety and compassion can co-exist. The answer lies in responsible implementation of ABC Rules, 2023 not in forced displacement and institutional cruelty.

We will continue to raise our voice for the voiceless.

It's really disheartening to see news that, During a match yesterday in Bathinda, Punjab, female Kabbadi student-athletes from several Tamil Nadu universities who were competing in an intercollegiate tournament were attacked.

female players from varsities such as Mother Teresa University, Periyar University, Alagappa University and Bharathiar University were in Punjab to compete in the North Zone Inter University & All India Inter University Kabaddi (Women) Championship 2024-25.

The athletes were allegedly attacked mid-match by members of the opposing squad. It was reportedly over a ‘foul’ attack called against Mother Teresa University during a match versus Darbhanga University.

As the team appealed to the referee, an incident broke out where the referee allegedly struck a member of the Mother Teresa side. This led to a physical altercation where both sides began to attack one other.

We can able to see many videos that is really disturbing...
AJF and Classical Sports & Arts magazine stands with Tamilnadu kabbadi team and we request Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Mr. M. K. Stalin and Sports Minister Mr. Udhayanidhi Stalin Stalin to take necessary steps that make sure the safety of all the athletes and coaches.
