🌿✨ **Heritage Walk with Youth – A Blend of History & Climate Change ✨🌿

We organized a Heritage Walk with our youth, where we explored history, reflected on climate change, and shared moments of fun and togetherness.

🕌 We began with a discussion on how Delhi was founded and the rulers who shaped its history. The youth realized that Delhi is not just a city, but a meeting point of civilizations and cultures.

Our journey then took us to RK Puram and Gumbad Tomb, where we explored the site’s architectural beauty and historical significance. The youth actively asked questions and imagined what life would have been like in those times.

💧 Within the same complex, we visited an ancient stepwell (Baoli). Here, the youth learned how it was used for water conservation and community needs.
This discussion helped them understand how people in earlier times were conscious of conserving resources and living in harmony with nature—lessons that are highly relevant today as we face the challenges of climate change.

🍴 Alongside history and learning, the day was filled with joy and bonding:

Everyone shared a meal together,

We had a fun race,

And played an exciting Treasure Hunt Game, which brought out teamwork and creativity.

😊 The youth realized that learning is not confined to classrooms—this blend of history, environment, and fun created experiences and lessons that will stay with them for life.

✨ Truly, today was a beautiful combination of knowledge of history, reflections on climate change, and joyful moments.

🌍💚 The purpose of such activities is to ensure that our youth understand climate change, apply sustainable practices in their own lives, and inspire others as well.
At the same time, they realize why history is important, and why sharing knowledge matters.
By comparing the past with the present, we can better choose the right direction for our future.

Climate Change
An Initiative to Understand Climate Change ✨🌍

Every Sunday, we come together with the youth of our community to watch a film or short video and then hold a discussion. The goal is not just to understand the story, but to connect it with real life situations happening today.

we learned how small island nations are on the verge of sinking due to rising sea levels. This is not just their problem—it will impact the entire world, including countries like India.

👉 We also reflected on the recent floods in Delhi and tried to understand how our carelessness, increasing pollution, and overuse of resources are pushing us closer to this crisis.

Conversations like these remind us that climate change is not a distant issue—it is the reality of our present and our future.

Climate Change workshop was held with adolescents in Coolie Camp South Delhi
We explored how 🌏 Earth was formed, what science says about life on it, and why it’s crucial to talk about climate change today.

🎬 The session began with short movie clips.
For some, it was the first time hearing the word climate change, while others were already familiar. Instead of getting stuck on the term, they discussed its broader impacts and how it directly affects our lives.

👉 Youth also reflected on how developed countries put pressure on developing nations.
In the end, they expressed a desire to continue these discussions for deeper understanding.

Coolie Camp, Vasant Vihar, Delhi, the 79th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm, just like every year.
This year’s flag-hoisting program was organized by the community’s youth.

Sunny and his team, including young women, collected decoration materials, invited all community members, cleaned the temple where the flag-hoisting was to take place, decorated the flag, and arranged all the necessary items.

The flag was hoisted by Gandhi Baba along with women from the community. The preparations for this program gave the youth an opportunity to learn many things and showcase their talents, further deepening their sense of excitement and pride.

August, Her Haq team installed a Sanitary Pad Vending Machine in Coolie Camp for the women and girls of the community. 💟
This machine will help them in emergency situations like when it’s late at night and stepping outside is unsafe, or during sudden periods at school, work, or while traveling.
The pads provided are biodegradable, making them safe for the environment 🌱.
Children were happy, and the women appreciated this step, as it will truly help solve a big problem in our community.
For the next 4 months, the usage will be observed — how many pads are taken, at what times, and for what reasons — so that more such initiatives can be planned.
A small step for comfort, a big step for dignity. 💜

The YP Foundation organized a powerful and engaging program that focused on issues related to the q***r community—education, health, and livelihood.

In this space, youth leaders from YP Foundation shared their fellowship experiences from cities like Jaipur, Varanasi, and Lucknow. They spoke about the challenges q***r individuals face—not just from specific people, but from a society that starts instilling discrimination from childhood. However, they also acknowledged those individuals who stood by them and offered support.

Participants were divided into smaller groups to discuss the three core themes: education, health, and livelihood. During the panel discussion, an important point was raised: sometimes q***r individuals are hired just so companies can appear "progressive," rather than being offered genuine, equal opportunities.

The entire program was conducted with great sensitivity and inclusiveness by the YP Foundation team. Together, everyone created an open, safe space where participants could share their thoughts without fear or hesitation.

The event was held at The Park Hotel in Delhi, and many new friendships were formed—sparking hopes for continued conversations and deeper connections in the future.

Haq Charcha 2025 — "Masculinity Interrupted: Building Male Allyship"

Her Haq Organization recently organized Haq Charcha 2025 on the theme "Masculinity Interrupted – Building Male Allyship." The event saw active participation from college and university students, professionals from the social sector, and even political representatives. The discussion brought forward deeply rooted gender issues, explored in an open and grounded manner, where everyone expressed themselves freely and honestly.

One of the most inspiring moments was the participation of Sunny from Coolie Camp, who confidently raised a question to the panel of experts. It was Sunny’s first time participating in such a public discussion, and he spoke with clarity and courage. For us, this was a powerful reminder of how important it is to provide young people the space and stage to express themselves freely on issues like gender and social change.

Towards the end of the event, a surprise gift segment was organized. A lucky draw was conducted where each participant’s name was put into a bowl, and one name was picked for a lovely gift. To everyone’s delight, the name chosen was Naina — a member of our very own team! It was a joyful moment of recognition among hundreds of attendees.

Nepali Camp, Sector 4, RK Puram – Delhi

Two Delhi University colleges performed a powerful street play as part of the Ebraat Nukkad Natak Festival in our community.

Even before the performance began, a crowd of excited children had already gathered. As the team arrived, the kids began chanting with energy:
"Aao Aao Natak Dekho!" (Come, come, watch the play!)

🎭 Before the play, the team walked through the community, interacting with residents, learning about their lives and issues, and inviting them to be part of the experience.
This connection made the performance even more meaningful.

It wasn’t just a performance — it was a conversation, a connection, and a small but significant step toward change.

A Conversation on Menstrual Hygiene with Adolescent Girls
📍 Coolie Camp, Vasant Vihar

Unmukt, in collaboration with HerHaq, organized a workshop on menstrual hygiene with adolescent girls in Coolie Camp, Vasant Vihar. The session created a safe space where the girls openly shared their experiences, questions, and thoughts related to menstruation and the social taboos around it.

Asha, representing Unmukt, said —
“Menstruation is a natural biological process, and it’s important for girls to speak about it openly. Unless we break the silence around it, we cannot ensure access to the right information and dignity.”

During the workshop, hygiene kits were also distributed to all the participants to help them maintain menstrual health with proper resources.

🌸 Let’s work together to build a world where every girl feels free and confident to talk about her body without fear or shame.
