La VOICE is the first independent newspaper of Kirori Mal College. We aim to connect different departments, societies and members of KMC.

“La VOICE” is the first independent newspaper of Kirori Mal College. We aim to establish effective networking between different departments, societies as well as staff and students, thereby facilitating productive collaboration among them. This initiative will provide a platform to different societies to promote themselves and will keep the students informed about the events happening in the college campus.

“La VOICE” could give an advantage to students by providing them with an opportunity to better equip themselves with the events happening in college and give voice to the ideas of individuals. “La VOICE” will also give its members a great platform to grow as an individual and learn from the work they do for its growth in their future.

The first page of a new book is often filled with a sense of excitement, nervousness and the possibility of exploring a new part of yourself. But what happens after the first page is turned? Once the new tasks start to settle into routines, once the unfamiliar becomes the new familiar, we are left with the quieter task of finding our place within everything we have begun.

Finding your place is a long process; it can mean learning where you belong, navigating the new spaces, building new relationships, discovering the unexpected versions of yourself, or even realising that the place you've always thought you wanted may no longer feel like home. Sometimes it's about fitting into a new frame; at other times, it's about creating a space for yourself after the initial pages are already written. Perhaps the most important part of a new chapter is not how it begins, but how we choose to build it. The first page may set the scene, but the pages that follow are where we begin to understand ourselves.

In this issue, we invite you to explore what it means to find your place after the beginning, whether it is about belonging, identity, unfamiliarity, or growing into a new version of yourself. We welcome poems, short fiction, letters, personal/photo essays, photographs, comics, illustrations, and everything in between.

🌱Theme: Not a Clean Slate
🗓️Deadline: 29th August, 2026

The month of August brings with it a series of new beginnings for many of us. But every new beginning is often mistaken for a clean slate. Yet, more often than not, it emerges from what existed before it: old versions of ourselves, unfulfilled dreams, difficult choices, and forgotten acts of courage. Reinvention is hardly ever immediate; rather, it is shaped by the constant unlearning of old habits, the reclaiming of overlooked parts of ourselves, and the willingness to embrace change despite uncertainty.

To begin again is not necessarily to become someone entirely unrecognisable. Sometimes, it is about returning to the self that existed before it was buried beneath the weight of pressures, expectations, and fears. At other times, it may mean choosing a different path, discovering a new sense of purpose, or simply allowing oneself the grace to grow. Every beginning carries within it traces of what came before, reminding us that growth is not a departure from our former selves, but an ongoing dialogue with them.

Goodbyes do not arrive all at once; rather, they take time to settle. During the last walk through the corridor that once felt endless, laughter lingers a moment longer, as if it knows it is about to become a memory. Farewell is not simply about the act of leaving; it represents all that we carry with us as we go.

Perhaps, there is a certain intimacy in the act of letting go. It invites one to recognise attachments, to accept that something or someone has left a significant mark on our lives. In doing so, one reshapes how they carry those memories into the future. After all, what is nostalgia if not proof of moments well spent?

Now, as one steps through these doors, a sense of excitement fills the air, of all the adventures that await us in the future. As we bid goodbye to yesterday, it is comforting to know that a piece of it will remain with us, cherished in our hearts.

It gives us immense pleasure to announce the release of LA VOICE, the official newsletter of Kirori Mal College, for January 2026. The issue was formally released by our esteemed Principal, Prof. Dinesh Khattar on 23rd March 2026.
La Voice is a monthly newsletter of Kirori Mal College that highlights the academic achievements and activities of both students and faculty.

We extend our gratitude to our respected Principal for his constant guidance and support. We would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to the our Convenor, Dr. Satyendera Srivastav for his encouragement and direction throughout the process.

Moreover, as the sun exudes its radiant warmth, a welcoming positive energy spreads in the atmosphere. The freshness of spring does not only surround us, it seeps into our spirit uplifting and energizing us for new beginnings. At its core, it is a time when even the simplest moments carry a refreshing spirit, perhaps a gentle reminder from nature that change is a continuous unfolding.
