About Seelampur
Seelampur, a minority concentrated district, is a mish-mash of rural and urban, the area is essentially a resettlement colony predominantly constituted of a migrant population hailing originally from UP and Bihar, living in some authorized and mostly unauthorized colonies. The living conditions in the area are deplorable, area ranks low on safety indicator, with women especially
being at the receiving end of crimes. The Problem
Women in the community lack exposure to the world outside their community, have limited source of income. are illiterate and lack confidence to go about on their own. An ASAR test conducted on the children showed that a 6th grade child could not read a grade 1 text and grade 5 children could not read any English text. Raah
Vision : "A self-sustainable community with equal opportunities for the women and children, in education and livelihood." Mission: Empowering the women socially, economically and educationally by creating entrepreneurs in the community. An after school learning center for the children run by the community women.
