WePlant India

WePlant India Planting location specific indigenous fruit trees in public places. Thus enhancing bio-diversity and reduce malnutrition.

WePlant is a Non Government Organization that aims to reduce malnutrition and promote biodiversity through the simple act of planting fruit trees in public places, remote villages, river-side, mountains and valleys. We believe that we can tackle the serious issues of both declining biodiversity globally as well as the significant malnutrition across India by planting indigenous fruit trees in publ

ic places where people who need the nutritious fruit can have access to it. So far we have planted more than 38000 trees across Kerala, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Mizoram, Nagaland as well as in Delhi and we plan on continuing to expand.

• We Plant fruit trees for a better world
• Fulfilling Everlasting Nishkama Karma
• It is estimated that over 45% of children below the age of five and 65% of pregnant and lactating mothers in India are anaemic.
• We Plant fruit trees in public places so that the poorest of the poor get access to nutritious fruits.
• Each tree is planted and nurtured by a volunteer and grown in memory of anyone in the community. The aim is to reduce malnutrition and enhance bio-diversity.
• Over 38000 saplings are already planted in five states.
• Lets fill our mother earth with green jewels

🌱 Growing a Greener Future at JMC! 🌱

Our We Plant India initiative at Jesus and Mary College, University of Delhi, has taken a powerful step toward sustainability, a Model Nutrition Forest.🌳🍎

With the incredible support of Principal Prof. Sister Molly, dedicated gardeners, and the enthusiastic participation of 1,000+ students, this initiative is more than just planting trees; it’s about cultivating hope. Students came together to collect and contribute seeds, including abundant neem seeds gathered during July, building a living resource for the future.

🎯 Our Mission:
To address last-mile nutrition challenges in remote villages by promoting access to fruits and preserving seeds through community participation. Every seed saved today is a step toward a healthier tomorrow for children everywhere.

🎥 Watch the message from our Director, Dr Santhosh George, and be inspired by the vision behind this initiative.

Special thanks to the college, the Principal, and all the students for making this meaningful effort a success.

🌍 Let’s grow forests of nutrition, together.

🌱 Planting Nutrition. Nurturing the Future.

Under the inspiring mission , Dr Santhosh George shares a powerful and practical idea through the We Plant Nutrition Garden Model, demonstrated on the national office terrace.

The terrace garden showcases a vibrant mix of nutritious fruits, vegetables, and flowering plants, creating a small ecosystem that promotes nutrition, sustainability, and biodiversity. What may appear to be a simple garden carries a powerful message: every space can become a source of food and health.

This model shows how even a small terrace can grow fresh nutrition for families while supporting pollinators, greenery, and ecological balance.

Now imagine the potential:
🌾 If India’s 7 lakh villages adopt nutrition gardens
🌿 If every home grows even a few nutritious plants
🌻 If communities cultivate food locally

The result could be a grassroots revolution against malnutrition and hunger.

The We Plant initiative encourages people to transform available spaces into nutrition gardens that nourish families, strengthen communities, and protect biodiversity.

Let’s plant seeds of nutrition, sustainability, and hope, one garden at a time. 🌱

🌱 Sowing Seeds of Change in Kota, Rajasthan! 🌱

Under the We Plant Initiative, our dedicated team member successfully visited two Anganwadi Centres in Kota, Rajasthan, to spread awareness about sustainable nutrition and food security at the grassroots level.
Through interactive discussions with Anganwadi workers and community members, awareness was created about:

✔️ The importance of local seed preservation
✔️ Kitchen gardening for household nutrition
✔️ Sustainable food practices to combat malnutrition

As a significant step forward, a Seed Bank was established, empowering the centres to grow and preserve nutritious local crops. 🌾

This initiative is not just about planting seeds; it is about reducing malnutrition and hunger, strengthening community resilience, and ensuring that children and families have access to fresh, locally grown, nutrient-rich food.

By enabling communities to cultivate their own resources, we are nurturing healthier futures one seed at a time. 🌿
