Our study ‘Justice Delayed is Justice Denied: Medical Negligence’ reveals the appalling fact that courts take 10 years or more to decide cases of medical negligence. In many cases, the victims of negligence have died before the judgment! Even if the verdict is in favour of the consumer, the compensation amount is so meagre that it makes a mockery of justice!

A group of students, led by Aishwarya Mudgil, a BA LLB (H) student of NLU, Kolkata have prepared a report titled ‘ Justice Delayed is Just...

"Fake News means news, story information, data, and reports which is or are wholly or partially false”-said Mr Justice Chandramauli Kumar Prasad, Chairman Press Council of India (PCI) in 2018. The phenomenon is not new. It is its propagation that has multiplied many fold in recent times with the advent of technology, making it proliferate through social media as well as traditional news media like newspapers and TV.
Unintentional propagators are the most regular outlets for fake news. They may not have any vested interest but habitually share whatever is received on WhatsApp etc, without verifying the facts. Many a fake news becomes viral through such unintentional action! .

‘It would be fantastic,
If we stopped using plastic,
And eased the world's pain,
With a healthy food chain.
Turtles would no longer gag,
On a supermarket's bag.
Sea birds could have a meal,
Of food that was real….’
- Says Manish Kumar Mittal (PGDAV College-DU) in his prize winning entry in Inter College Poetry Contest ‘Kavyanjali’ on ‘Dharti ki ab yehi pukaar, plastic mukt karo har haal’. For more, pl see

The journey of Consumers India has been like a dream come true!
The dream of running a voluntary organization, which is truly voluntary in nature has been concretized! Even without any paid employee, our activities are continuously increasing.
Consumers India is an intellectually strong organization comprising senior officers of Government of India (generally retired), doctors, engineers, academics and others, who have joined hands to use their knowledge and experience for the well-being of consumers. The organization was registered on 18.05.2007 under Societies Registration Act, 1860. It is also registered under Sections 12A read with Section 12AA and 80 G (5) (vi) of Income Tax Act, 1961.

Several important campaigns have been taken up under its umbrella with a view to safeguard interests of large number of consumers. Some of them relate to ‘Unethical Medical Practices’, ‘Misleading Advertising’, ‘Justice for All’, ‘Junk the junk food’ etc. Catalysing the energy of youth through Internship Programme and All-India Painting/Slogan/On-line Contests etc has been a major milestone achieved by Consumers India.

The journey of Consumers India has been like a dream come true! The seeds for setting up of Consumers India were sown in the year 2003...

‘Bulking up or breaking bad? Excess protein powder hitting your kidneys’-reported Times of India on March 12, 2026. It was mentioned that Doctors in the city are raising alarm over the growing number of young gym-goers suffering kidney damage due to unsupervised use of protein supplements. In a recent case a 20-year-old college student from south Delhi was admitted to PSRI Hospital after developing severe symptoms of kidney distress. Doctors traced the damage to his renal filtration system to the consumption of protein powders while training at a gym. It is always advisable to get your protein from natural sources.

Wish to know the truth about ready to eat food?
The market of ready to eat food (RTE) is growing fast due to factors like a fast-paced urban lifestyle, rise in disposable income etc, but it can always be challenged on the grounds of its freshness, health implications, nutritional value. Our study indicates that convenience is the biggest reason for Consumers to buy RTE foods, with around 75% of respondents saying so. On the positive side, around 85% say that they would prefer freshly cooked foods over RTE foods. So even if people have started consuming RTE foods, they are aware of the fact that freshly cooked food is far better than RTE foods. https://drjayashreegupta.blogspot.com/2014/04/truth-about-packaged-ready-to-eat-foods.html
