At 15 years old, A***n had never attended school.

Growing up in a crowded one-room home in Delhi's Shadipur Transit Camp, opportunities for learning were limited. When he joined Ashish Foundation in 2024, he was extremely shy, withdrawn, and had no formal educational experience.

Today, A***n is a confident, expressive young person who actively participates in learning, community activities, and even marathons. He has developed academic skills, technology skills, problem-solving abilities, and greater independence in everyday life.

From identifying numbers and words to using digital tools, from learning daily living skills to interacting confidently in the community, A***n's journey demonstrates what becomes possible when children are given access to education, support, and opportunities to grow.

His progress is reflected not only in improved learning outcomes but also in increased confidence, participation, and belief in his own abilities.

Looking ahead, A***n dreams of becoming independent, supporting his family financially, and continuing to strengthen his academic and technology skills.

His story reminds us that potential is not determined by where a child starts. With patience, respect, and the right support, new possibilities can emerge every day.

We have made significant progress in recognizing autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and other neurodevelopmental differences.

But one critical question remains:

What happens when neurodivergent children become adults?

Too often, support systems end where adulthood begins. Educational supports decrease, employment opportunities remain limited, social networks shrink, and many young adults are left navigating a future with few pathways to participation and belonging.

The challenge is not a lack of potential.

The challenge is that society is still not designed to recognize, support, and value different ways of learning, communicating, socializing, and contributing.

At Ashish Foundation, we believe inclusion must go beyond awareness, therapy, and schooling. True inclusion means creating opportunities for neurodivergent young adults to learn, work, build relationships, contribute to their communities, and occupy valued social roles.

Through the lens of Social Role Valorization (SRV), the goal is not simply to provide care. It is to ensure people are seen as students, employees, artists, volunteers, neighbours, leaders, and citizens.

Because belonging changes lives.

The next frontier of inclusion in India is not awareness.

It is adulthood.

And the measure of an inclusive society is not whether people are present, but whether they are genuinely valued and included in everyday community life.

Too often, young adults with autism and developmental disabilities are seen as "eternal children."

But they are not.

They are young adults navigating friendships, building skills, expressing opinions, exploring interests, and dreaming about their futures—just like any other young person.

The problem is not a lack of potential.
The problem is how often society fails to recognize it.

When we focus only on disability, we miss the person.
When we focus only on challenges, we overlook strengths.
And when expectations are low, opportunities become limited.

Every young adult deserves the chance to learn, work, contribute, form meaningful relationships, and belong in their community.

It's time to move beyond labels and see possibility, dignity, and potential.

Let's stop defining people by what they need support with and start recognizing everything they have to offer.

Because every person deserves the opportunity to build a meaningful life.

Siblings bond in the little moments that often go unnoticed — doing fun activities together, laughing at silly things, sharing celebrations, going out together, or simply spending time side by side.
For neurodivergent children and young adults, these experiences are deeply meaningful. They create connection, belonging, social learning, confidence, and memories that stay for life.

Too often, disability conversations focus only on therapies, interventions, or caregiving. But sibling relationships are equally important spaces of inclusion, companionship, and natural support.
Creating opportunities for siblings to have fun together is not a “small thing.”
It is part of building valued relationships, stronger families, and a more inclusive life.

For many children and young adults with autism and developmental disabilities, mobility is not just about transportation — it is about access to education, therapy, friendships, and opportunities.

We are working to break barriers that lead to isolation and create pathways toward independence and inclusion.

With your support, we can:
- Enable safe mobility
- Improve access to learning & therapies
- Encourage community participation
- Build confidence, skills & independence
