For an organization like ours which stands not only for discussion and public speaking, but also for promulgation of the art of diplomacy and free expression of views, this blog provides a much needed platform for our members to post their opinions and ideas on any relevant issue. It also gives them a chance to experiment with their creativity and broaden their researching and thinking skills.

The Global Youth Diplomacy Forum team recently had the opportunity to attend the 56th Sapru House Lecture hosted by the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) on 6th May 2026, delivered by H.E. Mr. To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The lecture focused on the evolving India-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and highlighted themes of shared vision, strategic convergence and substantive cooperation in an increasingly dynamic Indo-Pacific landscape.

The experience provided our members an enriching opportunity to engage with contemporary diplomatic discourse and observe firsthand the intersections of foreign policy, strategic affairs and international cooperation.

If the UN didn’t exist, we’d have to invent on today, we have to reinvent it.
In this conversation, Suhasini Haidar introduces the idea of “50-50-50” flexible coalitions of countries coming together issue-by-issue, from climate change to critical minerals.
Instead of one rigid global system, the future may lie in multiple, focused partnerships shaping global governance.

A system built for 1945… trying to run 2026.
Suhasini Haidar points out the flaw at the heart of the United Nations Security Council: a power structure frozen in a World War II reality.
No Africa. No South America. And India, the world’s most populous nation is still outside the table.
As power shifts toward Asia, one thing is clear: this system can’t last forever. Reform isn’t a possibility anymore, it’s inevitable.

The 11th edition, held from 5–7 March 2026, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi with the President of Finland, H.E. Dr. Alexander Stubb delivering the keynote address. The Dialogue witnessed participation from representatives of over 110 countries, including ministers, parliamentarians, military leaders, industry experts, academics and youth.
Under the theme “Saṁskāra – Assertion, Accommodation, Advancement,” discussions were structured across six key pillars, addressing issues of power dynamics, global commons, climate challenges, technology, and trade in an evolving world order.

Held at a time of significant geopolitical shifts, the experience offered our team direct exposure to contemporary diplomatic discourse and the complexities of global governance.

War isn’t just strategy — it’s broken homes, empty hospitals, and lives on pause.
The Gaza Peace Plan is about more than ceasefires and negotiations. It’s about aid reaching people, accountability for violence, and giving a future back to civilians caught in the crossfire. Peace isn’t optional. It’s urgent.
