Clay shaped by hand. Bamboo woven in silence. A livelihood carried for generations.

But today, that livelihood is under threat, not because the craft isn't valuable, but because the systems around it haven't kept up.

Rural artisan communities power India's informal economy with minimal resources and near-zero environmental cost. Yet they remain cut off from the markets, tools, and recognition they deserve.

Eco-friendly production isn't a certification box to tick, it is the artisan's way of life. Protecting it means protecting the people behind it.

This is what drives everything we do. Swipe to see how.

Crafting a Fairer Future

At the heart of every hand-woven thread and hand-carved block lies a story of skill, heritage, and resilience. But for our craft sector to truly thrive, "Fair Trade" must be more than just a buzzword, it must be a standard.

Did you know?

Fair Trade in Indian crafts isn't just about the final price tag. It’s about building an ecosystem where:

âś… Artisans receive wages that honor their time and expertise.
âś… Workspaces are safe, inclusive, and empowering.
âś… Sustainability is woven into the process through eco-friendly practices.

Through Craftmark, we bridge the gap between rural clusters and the global market, ensuring that tradition isn't just preserved—it's propelled forward. When you see the Craftmark, you aren't just seeing a label; you’re seeing a promise of authenticity and ethical impact.

Let’s change the way the world consumes. Choose handmade. Choose Fair Trade. Choose the Revolution.

Artisans are not just makers; they are the primary custodians of India’s cultural economy.

On 5th May 26, RangSutra celebrated 20 years of transformative work with the "Crafting Change" event in New Delhi. Our Executive Director, Meenu Chopra, joined a distinguished panel of industry leaders to discuss how we can collectively secure a dignified future for the handicraft sector.

Meenu’s message was clear: To truly thrive, the sector needs "patient capital." We must move toward long-term investments that prioritize building sustainable ecosystems over short-term financial metrics.

AIACA remains committed to integrating the traditional intelligence of our artisans with modern market requirements.

What does the market really want?

At the April Shilp Charcha session, conducted by artisans explored this question while learning how to design with purpose, usability, and evolving trends in mind.

From breaking design into simple steps of shape, color, material (Elements & Principles) to applying a practical approach of Dekho + Pucho + Banao + Becho + Seekho, applying Design Thinking, the session focused on turning ideas into products that connect with today’s market.

Through interactive exercises like “Old vs New” and “Think like a Customer,” artisans stepped into the shoes of buyers, rethinking their products for real-world use and market relevance.

Better design = better chances of selling

This is how craft moves from tradition to transformation by aligning creativity with market understanding.
