VISAKHAPATNAM BRANCH, ANDHRA PRADESH

A Memorable and Successful Branch AGM!

On 13th June, the Visakhapatnam Branch successfully conducted its Annual General Meeting (AGM), which turned out to be a truly memorable and well-attended occasion, with over 60 members and guests present.

We were honoured by the gracious presence of Mr. Warren Latouche, Governing Body Member in charge of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Wendy Latouche, whose presence added warmth and significance to the evening.

Although away on an overseas visit, our President-in-Chief, Mr. Barry O’Brien, addressed the gathering through electronic media, delivering an inspiring message that resonated deeply with all present and added a special touch to the proceedings.

The AGM witnessed the seamless formation of a new Branch Committee, reflecting the unity and continued commitment of members towards strengthening the Branch. A special mention must be made of Miss Jennifer D’Moss, one of our enthusiastic youth members, who hosted the programme with remarkable grace and confidence, adding youthful energy and elegance to the event.

The Branch President, Mr. Frederick Pereira, along with his dedicated team of committee members, deserves heartfelt appreciation for organising and hosting such a successful event with great care and efficiency.

A particularly touching moment of the evening came when our Secretary, Mrs. Candice Foran, recognised several committee members for their dedication and service by presenting them with thoughtful gifts — a heartfelt and much-appreciated gesture that made the evening even more special.

The event concluded on a delightful note with a delicious dinner and warm fellowship, bringing a perfectly organised and joyous evening to a memorable close.

Congratulations to the Visakhapatnam Branch on a successful AGM! Such gatherings strengthen bonds, celebrate service, and reaffirm the spirit of togetherness that makes our community truly special.

AYANAVARAM BRANCH (CHENNAI), TAMIL NADU

In a simple yet deeply meaningful initiative, the Ayanavaram Branch recently organised a special programme to support the Pensioners of our Branch by distributing essential ration items, toiletries, sarees, along with their regular pensions.

What made the occasion even more special was the warmth, care, and spirit of togetherness shared between the Branch Committee Members and our Pensioners. The entire Committee was present, reflecting the Branch’s collective commitment to honouring and supporting those who have contributed so much over the years.

The Branch Committee is earnestly working towards making the provision of ration support a regular feature and has invited sponsors to come forward to strengthen this noble effort.

In a thoughtful and inspiring appeal, members were encouraged to celebrate birthdays, wedding anniversaries, and other special occasions with our Pensioners in mind — turning moments of personal joy into opportunities to spread kindness and care.

Such initiatives beautifully remind us that community is built not merely through gatherings, but through compassion, gratitude, and meaningful action. The Ayanavaram Branch Committee deserves heartfelt appreciation for this commendable effort and for setting an example of service, dignity, and remembrance of our senior members.

A small gesture of care can make a big difference — and together, we can ensure that no member of our extended family feels forgotten.

Shania Morrison wins Voice of the Year …. for the second time!

Shania Morrison of the Lucknow Branch won the title in the sub-junior category a couple of years ago. Well, she’s done it again - by coming out on top in the Junior Category in the Voice of the Year 2025 organised by BAIT and AIAIAY on behalf of The All-India Anglo-Indian Association.

She is a class 11 student of La Martiniere Girls’ College, Lucknow, where her mother, Terryanne, is a teacher. Her father, Allen, the Treasurer of the Lucknow Branch, is a teacher in La Martiniere Boys’ College.

The President-in-Chief Mr Barry O’Brien sent her this personal message besides a framed citation and a copy of a recently released book:

“Congratulations Shania! This is a very special graphic novel on the community by Keith Butler of New Zealand and illustrated by Harry MacLure. Not yet available in the shops or Amazon! I am sure you will love it.”
(The book is NOW available on Amazon.)

The Branch handed over a cheque of Rs 5,000 to Shania from its side as part of the prize for winning this prestigious contest.

Shania is seen here with her proud parents and Mr Adrian Michael and Mr Warren Hopkins, the dynamic Branch President and Secretary, respectively.

Dr. Rosalind Gonzaga
A Teacher’s Pride, A Community’s Treasure: Celebrating the Remarkable Journey of Dr. Rosalind Gonzaga.

In the quiet rhythm of life, there are rare moments when pride transcends formality and becomes a deeply personal testimony of grace, growth, and divine orchestration. As I reflect upon such a moment, my heart is filled with profound gratitude to God for the privilege of witnessing the journey of one of my former students of St. Mary’s Anglo-Indian Girls’ High School, now Dr. Rosalind Gonzaga, whose life stands as a radiant embodiment of dedication, intellect, and purposeful service.

As President of the All-India Anglo-Indian Association, Cochin Branch, I consider it both an honour and a blessing to record this tribute, especially as she continues to serve our Association in the esteemed capacity of Honorary Treasurer. It is a rare joy to see a student not only blossom into professional excellence but also remain anchored in values, loyalty, and commitment to community service.

Dr. Rosalind Gonzaga presently serves as the Academic Dean of St. Albert’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam. A distinguished academician and able administrator, she has rendered exemplary service to the institution through several pivotal leadership roles, including Vice Principal, Head of the Department, and Member of the Governing Body. Her association with the Governing Body for nearly eight years stands as a testament to her steadfast dedication, institutional insight, and administrative acumen.

In June 2026, she was appointed as a Member of the Senate of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, by the Hon’ble Governor of Kerala, an honour that appropriately recognises her academic stature and contribution to higher education. Across her illustrious career, she has consistently demonstrated excellence in leadership, research, and service, thereby enriching the academic landscape with vision and integrity.

An erudite scholar and active researcher, Dr. Gonzaga has an impressive repertoire of research publications and conference presentations to her credit. As a recognised research guide, she has mentored doctoral scholars with scholarly rigour and compassionate mentorship, contributing significantly to the advancement of knowledge in Commerce and Management studies. Her academic pursuits reflect not only intellectual depth but also a commitment to nurturing the next generation of scholars.

What makes this achievement even more meaningful to me personally is the journey I have had the privilege to witness, from a bright young student within the walls of St. Mary’s Anglo-Indian Girls’ High School to a woman of substance who now stands tall in the corridors of higher education and public service. It is a living affirmation that true education, when rooted in values, bears fruit that benefits society at large.

In conclusion, Dr. Rosalind Gonzaga’s journey is more than a chronicle of professional milestones; it is a narrative of grace, perseverance, and purposeful living. May she continue to ascend to even greater heights, guided by wisdom, humility, and service. As an educator and as a proud custodian of our Anglo-Indian legacy, I rejoice in her achievements and pray that her life continues to illuminate many more paths, inspiring countless others to pursue excellence with integrity and faith.

COIMBATORE BRANCH, TAMIL NADU

Coming together as a community and enjoying one another’s company is a tradition we deeply cherish and hope to pass on to the younger generations.

We truly accomplished this during the Family Get-Together held at Stanes on 24th May 2026, which brought together families, students, and members of our community for an evening of joy, laughter, and togetherness.

The Bingo sessions were thoroughly enjoyed by young and old alike and were made even more memorable by our President’s creative and humorous hosting of the game. Laughter and excitement filled the room as participants eagerly joined in the fun.
The karaoke session treated everyone to a delightful medley of memorable songs and wonderful voices, leaving the audience thoroughly entertained and asking for more.

The family game proved to be absolutely hilarious and heartwarming, as it beautifully showcased each family’s unity, coordination, and competitive spirit—truly a joy to witness.
The Musical Cups game, a fun and creative twist on musical chairs, saw the children participate with tremendous excitement and enthusiasm, adding to the evening’s lively atmosphere.
Students were also given a brief counselling session, offering valuable guidance, encouragement, and an opportunity for personal reflection and growth.

Overall, it was an evening filled with pure joy, laughter, learning, togetherness, and unforgettable memories. It was heartening to see families, students, and members of our community come together to strengthen bonds, foster friendships, and create lasting connections.

COIMBATORE BRANCH, TAMIL NADU

A Grand Slam of Camaraderie: Coimbatore & Podanur Branches Unite in Sporting Spirit!

The air at the venerable Stanes School Sports Hall in Coimbatore recently buzzed with infectious energy as members of the Coimbatore and Podanur Branches of our vibrant Anglo-Indian community came together for an exhilarating indoor sports tournament. Far more than a series of matches, the event stood as a heartwarming testament to the enduring spirit of fellowship and sportsmanship that, as Branch President Mrs Patricia Tanner and the Committee firmly believe, truly defines our community.

From the swift volleys on the badminton courts to the intense rallies at the table tennis tables and the strategic play on the basketball court, every moment was charged with friendly competition and joyous camaraderie. Participants, ranging from seasoned veterans to enthusiastic youngsters, showcased not only their skills but, more importantly, their unwavering team spirit. The cheers and applause that echoed through the hall celebrated not merely points scored, but every effort made, every determined attempt, and every shared moment of laughter.

This tournament served an important purpose: keeping branch members connected and ensuring that the spirit of sportsmanship continues to thrive within our Anglo-Indian family. In an increasingly fast-paced world, such gatherings provide invaluable opportunities for old friends to reconnect, new friendships to blossom, and for the younger generation to imbibe the values of fair play, mutual respect, and community bonding. It was a day where the joy of participation far outweighed the desire for victory, truly embodying the essence of sport.

The remarkable success and vibrant atmosphere of this event have set a magnificent precedent for what promises to be an even grander spectacle. We are delighted to announce that the next major event on our sporting calendar will be the much-anticipated Anglo-Indian Premier League (AIPL). Building upon the success of this friendly tournament, the AIPL aims to bring together even more branches from across the region, fostering a wider network of sporting excellence and community cohesion. We envision a tournament where diverse talents converge, healthy rivalries are forged in the true spirit of sportsmanship, and the Anglo-Indian community shines brightly on an even broader stage.
