Key principles of these programmes include facilitating access of services and entitlements to the vulnerable, socially backward sections of the socie
ty and synergizing the efforts of key stakeholders. UHRC’s research activities and its publications inform policy formulation and urban health programming. UHRC provides technical support on urban health to National, State, District and City Governments and advocates for enhanced attention and resources for improving health and well being of the urban poor. Main Objectives of the Organization are to:
1.Develop innovative urban health programmes in cities of different sizes which can be adapted by the government and non-government agencies.
2.Strengthen Urban Health programming approaches and capacities at different levels among the Government and Non- Government partners.
3.Increase availability of urban poor specific health information and programme experiences among various stakeholders through research, documentation and dissemination.
4.Advocate enhanced attention on urban health, targeted policies and increased allocation of resources for slum dwellers.
5.Demonstrate and advocate for empowerment of slum communities, especially women as a means to achieve and sustain improvements in health care.
