Women Work & Health Initiative, New Delhi Women Work & Health Initiative working on women empowerment, looks at research & practice

WWHI aims to empower women and the marginalised sections of society, which includes men. Our work focuses on the gendered aspects in the world of work and its implications on health. Increasing gender equality in leadership roles is the goal that drives our mission forward. WWHI’s unique approach integrates research and practice to achieve its objectives. Given the mandate by the International Sc

ientific Committee to create a network of women work and health in Asia, during the course of the IV International Congress 2005, Women Work and Health initiative was officially established. (More details)

Since then, WWHI has been involved in a variety of projects furthering the cause of gender equality and women’s empowerment in India. Furthermore, WWHI adopts a multi-disciplinary approach- based on qualitative and quantitative research -in order to address the different issues that have direct bearing on women’s life and well-being; this has resulted in a variety of research studies and publications.

As the temperatures soared this summer touching nearly 50 degrees Celsius some days, many organisations took to distributing sharbat / refreshing drinks to bring some relief to those battling it out on the streets, particularly the children and daily wage earners in poor urban areas.

Here WWHI is seen supporting Rotary Club, Delhi in its humanitarian task.
The WWHI teachers gave biscuits and cold drinks to passers-by, the distribution centre was based in the WWHI Community Centre.
