One week in Baku to attend World telecom development conference
Global telecom leaders, ICT experts, youth delegates, and policymakers have gathered in Baku (17–28 November 2025) to shape a global roadmap for digital development.
India is taking a leading role at WTDC-25 in Baku, using the platform to champion global digital inclusion, secure and affordable connectivity, and the development priorities of emerging economies. Led by Minister Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Shekhar, the Indian delegation has highlighted India’s rapid expansion of last-mile digital infrastructure—bringing 4G and 5G coverage to 99% of districts—and its broader push toward meaningful, affordable access for all. India is promoting a global agenda centered on cybersecurity cooperation, ethical AI, and the growing interplay between mobile and satellite networks, while urging coordinated resource mobilization to help developing, least-developed, and landlocked countries leapfrog persistent barriers. Through high-level engagements such as its leaders’ breakfast reception and its advocacy for election of Ms.Revathi Mannepalli for leading ITU-R and India election to the ITU Council for 2027–30, India is positioning itself as a key architect of an inclusive and connected digital economy
